Boston Pizza (Steeles & Warden location)

Located at 7020 Warden Ave in Markham

A couple of us headed to Boston Pizza for some sustenance since two of us had just finished a three-hour basketball game.  The boys were hungry!!  Boston Pizza was the perfect place to have some fulfilling carbs and meats.

Boston Pizza is a franchise that has many locations around Ontario.  It specializes in American game night food — wings, pizza, nachos, finger food, beers, and the like.  It was very empty on a Sunday afternoon and we found ourselves one of the three tables there in the entire restaurant.  The service could have been better as they barely came around to check on us and when I inquired about the free wifi, none of the servers could tell me a correct password that would allow me access to the network.  Fail!

The food overall was good and what was expected in this type of restaurant.   I really enjoyed my pizzaburger sliders.  They were little packets of meaty goodness; it tasted like a small hamburger but with pizza toppings.  I really liked it. 🙂

Pizzaburger Sliders. $10.62
-three beef sliders, each wrapped in its own mini pizza. Stuffed with pepperoni, pizza mozzarella and signature pizza sauce, topped with even more pepperoni and pizza mozzarella, then baked to perfection and garnished with lettuce, pickles and tomatoes. Served with a chipotle Caesar sauce for dipping.

Jason’s pulled pork penne looked good and smelled amazing!

Pulled Pork Penne. $16.75
-pulled pork tossed in beefy Bolognese sauce, mixed with penne and balsamic-roasted red onions and finished with a BBQ sauce drizzle, crispy fried onions, Parmesan and green onions

I tried a slice of Lawrence’s pierogi pizza.  It actually tasted like a pierogi but it was in pizza form.  It was pretty good as well!  Despite being advertised as spicy, we didn’t taste the spice at all.

Spicy Pierogy Pizza. $12.25
-an inspired combination of sour cream, smoky bacon and BP’s Favourite Cactus Cut Potatoes with pizza mozzarella and cheddar, topped with green onion and a generous dollop of sour cream

The slice of pizza tasted like a pierogi!

We shared the cheese sticks and calamari that Ronny ordered.  The cheese stick was average; a little too crunchy.  The calamari was unfortunately one of the worst ones I’ve ever had… it was fried way too much and too dry.  It was also not seasoned enough.   Fried calamari is one of my favourite appetizers to have and it’s too bad they weren’t able to do this one right. =(

Three Cheese Toast. $4.51
-loaded with bubbling cheddar, pizza mozzarella and Parmesan with a hint of garlic

Calamari. $10.49
-tender calamari and banana peppers lightly dusted and deep fried to perfection. Served with chili lime mayo for dipping

Overall, Boston Pizza has upped their game and improved their menu from the last time I was here and the wide selection of game night food is quite attractive!  Their pizza also is better than when I’ve had it in the past.  There are locations all over Ontario!  Have you been to one before? 🙂

  1. Hey, thanks for the review on one of our Markham locations! We’re always thrilled to hear Guest feedback, and this is no exception. Great call on the Pizzaburger sliders by the way. We’ve been changing the pizza game since 1964 and are excited to launch another new menu next week (June 9th)! We’d love for you to join us. Turning 50 is big news. Additionally, lets chat about some of your service-related concerns. That way, we can arrange a follow up from our local team.

    Happy (almost) Friday all!

    • Hi Brittany,

Thank you for stopping by my blog and for your comments! That’s great to hear that there will be a new menu out next week. It’s always wonderful to see restaurants changing things up to keep up with what customers like. Are you going to be hosting a party of some sort with complimentary food as part of BP turning 50? 🙂 I’d love to chat about the concerns I had with BP during my visit.

      Happy Friday to you too!
