I am friends of a friend who opened up a bubble tea shop called FormoCha a couple of years ago! I don’t know him personally but I’ve seen him around and I finally got the chance to try FormoCha for the first time a couple of weeks ago.
They have two locations, one at Yonge & Eglinton and one at Yonge & Finch. I went to their flagship store at Yonge & Eglinton. This intersection itself is a busy one for people who work in the surrounding office buildings but when you step into the FormoCha store, you feel like you have entered a heaven of warm, toasty, and delicious-smelling sweets. It smelled amazing in there! It must have been all the grinding of various sesame, chocolate, almond toppings for their drinks that made the restaurant smell so great. FormoCha offers their signature bubble tea and milk tea drinks in addition to expresso, smoothies, juice, and desserts. They also have a nice display of daily cakes and pastries.
When I stepped into here for the first time, I ordered a small chocolate milk tea with tapioca. We were dining in so after I paid, we sat down and in a couple of minutes, the server brought our drinks out to us.
Wow, I was quite impressed with their bubble tea here! It’s not often that I get tapioca because I don’t think many bubble tea places make it good enough. The tapioca bubbles need to be chewy enough and not hard at all. Their tapioca fulfilled this criteria and I really enjoyed the tapioca! I also really enjoyed my chocolate flavoured milk tea. It smelled delicious and tasted deliciously of chocolate yum!
On this recent visit, I definitely wanted to try out their dessert. Since I was here after 2 p.m., I was able to take advantage of their afternoon tea time special where you can get a dessert and a regular drink for just $6.99. Cool!
I chose their Chocolate Strawberry Mousse dessert and a Sesame Milk Tea with reduced sugar, no ice, and no toppings (I didn’t want to go overboard on the sugar since I was having dessert anyway).
Clarissa ordered a taro milk tea with tapioca in addition to the Mango Mousse dessert — also taking advantage of their Afternoon Tea Time special. 🙂 We also got to use our shop6ca cards too! Yay! I can’t wait for more restaurants and shops to be added for exclusive discounts. 😀
I really liked the Chocolate Strawberry Mousse dessert. It was really cute and I like how they decorated the plate with little swirls of chocolate and strawberry topping too. The chocolate was very light and the strawberry mousse was creamy and smooth. The little fork that they provide you with is also a delicate touch.
I tried a bit of Clarissa’s mango mousse cake and I was surprised with how fresh the mango tasted. It was delicious! It also had a strawberry jam centre.
I am impressed with FormoCha. Their milk tea and desserts are really good! Have you been here before? You should try them out!
*Just announced on June 9 that they are opening their third location on Baldwin Street in downtown Toronto. Congrats!*
Wow!! They are expanding so quickly!! Congratulations to them!! Hehe. I like Formocha too. ❤
Yeah! New location on Baldwin St that is apparently going to be 5000 square feet. So amazing 🙂
