KAKA All You Can Eat — Sushi, Sashimi, and Japanese Food!

Located at First Markham Place at 3235 Highway 7 East, Unit 18A in Markham

I had the pleasure of visiting and dining at one of Greater Toronto Area’s newest all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants.  This one is called KAKA All You Can Eat and it’s located at the plaza strip of First Markham Place in Markham (Highway 7 and Woodbine).  This restaurant used to be Sense Modern Japanese (I blogged about it here).  I had gone here for lunch and noticed that while the sushi was good, there were very few customers and people who knew about it.  The manager and owner noticed this so they decided to revamp the entire restaurant and turn it into an upscale and high-quality all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant instead.  The interior decor is exactly the same as Sense Modern Japanese, which is fantastic because they are so beautifully decorated with Japanese lanterns, comfortable booth seats with soft pillows, a big wide sushi bar, and an all-around comfortable and classy atmosphere.

I was very excited to try this restaurant out because ever since I heard about it revamped as KAKA All You Can Eat, I’ve been seeing friends eat here on social media and wondered what the hype was.

Markham might be out of the way for some foodies (especially the downtowners), but this place is worth the visit for sure!

Closs of Sweven Media contacted me for a complimentary visit and I was so thrilled because he made my experience so amazing and 10 out of 10.  Thank you, Closs!

I love the design inside. So modern and classy

It was packed in there that night! Please make reservations when you come!

My friend Angel and I arrived at 6 p.m. at the time that we had reserved for.  It was a Sunday evening and the restaurant was packed!  There were so many people waiting at the front of the restaurant for a table.  Luckily, because we are reservations and Closs was waiting for us, we got our own table immediately.

Beautiful and sleek design. It was so easy to use and I love that it showed what I had ordered beforehand so I wouldn’t over-order

Closs explained a little background about KAKA All You Can Eat and also about how they use iPads to order food here (I’ve been to Spring Sushi downtown that also uses iPads for customers to order food).  It makes the entire all-you-can-eat experience very seamless and fun because you don’t have to wait on a server to take your order and you can eat exactly what you ordered on the iPad.  We were also introduced to Jason, a server who would also be looking out for us for the night.

Closs recommended a few favourites for us to try, including the octopus mustard sushi, spring egg, torched sushi, and several types of dessert.  I was very excited and Angel and I ordered a number of food right off the bat.

I am used to all-you-can-eat sushi places where the food usually takes upwards of 5-15 minutes to arrive so we ordered a lot just in case that the food would take a long time to arrive.  To our (pleasant) surprise, the food arrived within 1-2 minutes after I clicked the “submit” button on the iPad!  I was so impressed!  Our food dishes came out from the kitchen one after another and so quickly that soon our two-person table was filled up to the brim.  Please see this picture.  Isn’t it crazy!  We had to quickly eat and move some items on to one plate in order to make room for everything because all the food arrived so quickly.  This was such a breath of fresh air for an all-you-can-eat restaurant.  Great job!

The food was delicious.  We ordered a number of different dishes from each category: sushi, sashimi, ramen, baked dishes, skewers, starters, and more.

Spring Egg — this was so delicious!! So smooth and you can slurp the entire thing in your mouth. It’s perfectly hot and delicious

Special sushi roll platter made just for us! Salmon sushi, white tuna, beef, and a type of fish that I forgot the name of… :3

Chicken Wing — crispy!

Coq de Vin — chicken wing in a wine sauce — it was pretty good!

Lobster Bisque — delicious and smooth. Wish I had more to enjoy

Two some of the sushi selections on the special platter we got — so fresh!

Angel absolutely fell in love with the salmon sushi. It was so fresh and tasty! The other one is the beef

Chicken Ramen — Angel had this one

Teppanyaki Enoki Beef Roll — oh man, this one was made perfectly! Crunchy enoki mushroom inside the roll and well done beef on the outside! Not tough to chew at all!

Octopus Balls — well made!

Checkpoint. Look at all the food we had on our table so far! 😀

Truffle Tagliatelle Carbonara — this was also so tasty! It didn’t taste too heavy either

So good!

Tempura Shisamo Fish

Garlic Shrimp

Another checkpoint. Wow

Scallop Tempura

Fish Cake — this was so juicy and tasty! I know why Closs recommended it now!

Shrimp Tempura

Spicy salmon roll

Whole Grilled Squid! — delicious

Baked Oyster with Cheese — delicious!

Eel Fried Rice — this was made with Japanese rice so it was especially tasty

Shoulder of Lamb with Potato

Fresh Sashimi — salmon, tuna, tai, beef. The salmon sashimi was delicious and so fresh!

Salmon & Chpd Salmon Oshizushi, Tuna & Mushroom Oshizushi — amazing

Karaage — this was a little over fried and a little dry

More salmon sashimi!

Grilled okra — yes, I wanted just one. This was perfect

Mustard octopus sushi — the best! You have to try this!

Torched tuna sushi

Throughout the night, Closs checked up on us to see how we were doing and even sat down with us for a little bit to chat.  It was a really nice evening and I really appreciated Closs’s attention and attentiveness towards us to make sure that we had a very fun and enjoyable evening.  Thank you so much! 🙂  I also got to meet the manager, Irene, and she was extremely grateful and pleasant as well.

Our desserts! Red bean ice cream and matcha ice cream — yum!

Before we left, we had to try their desserts.  Again, Closs was able to recommend me some must-trys, including the two types of chocolate ganache that were made in-house (the owner of the restaurant actually specializes in desserts like these!).  We were so stuffed by this point, but there is always, always room for dessert. 🙂  Everything arrived quickly and Closs and Irene personally made sure that we got all of our desserts that we wanted.  Thank you again!

Cappaccino Custard Cup — this had real coffee bits on top! Amazing!!

Mango Slush — you have to try this! So refreshing

The ganache arrived!

Rum raisin chocolate ganache & Earl grey chocolate ganache. I really liked the rum raisin one while Angel fell in love with the earl grey 🙂

Blueberry cheesecake pudding

How our table looked like at one point of the night — so much amazing food! 😀

As I left that night, I was so grateful for this opportunity to try KAKA All You Can Eat and to be able to help them spread the word about this great sushi all you can eat restaurant.  Go check them out!  They are not your ordinary or typical all-you-can-eat where the sushi quality is mediocre or where they try to fill you up on rice from the sushi.  Here, you can order each piece separately (you can order just one piece).  This way, you can try a lot of different types of food from the menu.  You really have to come more than once in order to try out everything.  It’s so worth it! 🙂

One of the best all-you-can-eat sushi experiences I’ve ever had! 🙂

The ordering system is genius, Makes me wonder if they’ll eventually come out with the robotic one too, where you sit and it comes directly to your table heh! Now, the octopus balls? ooooh I am SO addicted to those 😀
