Back in October, I bought this Groupon deal for $15 of $25 worth of food at Paramount Chinese Cuisine & Banquet Hall. I recently blogged about this restaurant when I dined here with family for dim sum. Here are some more food pictures of what we ate when we dined here this time!
.
Starting a dim sum meal with these goodies is never a bad idea because they’re a little spicy and sour; they open up your appetite for the rest of the meal so that you can engulf even more food into your system! Oh, and in case you don’t know, these are chicken feet, but deboned! So you can essentially eat the whole thing. It’s pretty tasty.
Your classic pork dumplings with shrimp and fish roe on the top of each one:
I love this dish! Crispy fried fishies! You get so much calcium from eating it since all the bones are soft and you can ingest the entire fish:
A noodle! E-fu noodles to be exact:
I found it funny that their serving spoon and fork for the noodles were SO huge. It’s like made for a giant to use:
So after seeing these pictures of the food that I had, I have to confirm what I suspected from my first visit at this restaurant: The food is bland as heck. The food, presentation, texture, and general appearance of the food looks great! It’s not until you taste it that you discover that there is barely a taste at all.
The spicy and sour deboned chicken feet, albeit a little sour and spicy, didn’t contain the kick that you usually get when you eat this dish. The taste is definitely milder. The same thing with the pork dumplings and crispy fried fish. These dishes have so much potential to be delicious and tasty, but they are missing something. Maybe the restaurant doesn’t use MSG at all because I can’t say that anything is delicious here. The worst one was the E-Fu noodle because already on its own, this type of noodle is plain — there are only mushrooms and noodles that are infused with oyster sauce. When you have a noodle of this preparation that tastes further bland, it was really hard to eat due to the lack of flavour. It was like eating dry string.
If it wasn’t for my Groupon deal expiring, I wouldn’t have returned to this restaurant. Eat at your own risk. You have been warned.

Yikes! that’s too bad about the quality of taste, cause you’re right it really does look good :O
Haha, it’s very deceiving! However, this is just my opinion. I’m sure many others think the blander taste is just fine. 🙂
Me, food has to be full of taste otherwise I won’t be ordering that next item 😀 lol
What a shame 😦 We LOVE Dim Sum.
Fortunately, this is just one dim sum restaurant. There are so many others all around Toronto that you can completely skip this one if you wanted to! 🙂
