O.M.G. Restaurant & Lounge [Defunct]

Located at 4033 Gordon Baker Road in North York

What an interesting name to this restaurant (which is really a Hong Kong style cafe)!  “O.M.G.” Restaurant & Lounge is definitely catchy and very creative because you wouldn’t think that this is just a casual cafe that offers the same selection of food as other Hong Kong style cafes.

O.M.G. Restaurant & Lounge is located on Gordon Baker Road in Scarborough near Victoria Park Avenue and Steeles Avenue.  It’s kind of tucked away on Gordon Baker Road so you might not spot it right away.  From the outside, you would expect a really posh restaurant and lounge since most of its interior is hidden from view and it looks dark from the outside.  However, after you step in, you realize that it’s really not that big inside.  There is a main dining room with TV screens lining the walls and there is another dining room off to the entrance for private parties.  There actually weren’t too many seats available and you might want to make a reservation just in case before coming for dinner.

The space is not terribily big so it’s good for dates, small get-togethers, and casual meals

Betty and I happened to be in this area looking for a dinner place and O.M.G. Restaurant & Lounge was the closest one that popped up.  We sat in for dinner on a Saturday night and were lucky to get a table after two minutes of waiting.

Balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and butter with the bread

Looking through the menu, they serve steaks, pastas, baked rice, and appetizers like escargots, foie gras, and oysters.  They also have a daily special for dinner which is what we happened to choose on this night (they have clam chowder or a Russian borscht as the included soup! — I love clam chowder!).

First, they served us bread in a basket with butter and an olive oil and balsamic vinegar mix.  Yum.

Then, very quickly, our soups arrived.  Oh man, I loved the clam chowder soup.  It was creamy, thick, and full of clams and “stuff”.  It was perfect for my liking. 😀

Shortly, our mains arrived.  We both ordered the Chicken Steak & Foie Gras option which also came with mashed potatoes and vegetables (grilled zucchini and yellow peppers).

The foie gras was a decent size and was soft and fatty.  It was yummy!  I really enjoy foie gras.  The chicken steak was very juicy and tender with the thick skin still on.  I also adored the gravy which paired perfectly with the mashed potatoes.  Yum!  It was such an enjoyable and satisfying meal. ^_^

We finished off the meal with an included hot drink — I chose my usual hot water with lemon to help digestion.

Delicious! (I didn’t finish it so I brought half of it home to enjoy — still delicious!)

I really enjoyed my meal here.  The service was prompt and professional too.  I would love to return again and try their other daily specials and even their escargots and oysters too!  I love oyster! 😀
