July 2, 2018: There’s a new all-you-can-eat vegetarian buffet restaurant in Richmond Hill! Blossom Vegetarian is located inside Richlane Mall on Leslie north of 16th Avenue and takes over the place of a previous Chinese restaurant.
It’s a big venue for a buffet restaurant with even more private rooms on the lower level. The restrooms are also on the lower level (unless you walk out to go to the ones inside the mall).
We came here for their buffet lunch on Canada Day weekend to try it out for the first time. They had a pretty good selection of vegetarian and vegan hot and cold foods (mainly Asian dishes). They offered such things as vegetarian dim sum, buns, noodles, rice, mock meats, various stir-fried dishes, and more. Each dish is labelled with its name and whether it’s vegetarian or vegan.

Sweet & sour tofu, Sweet & sour soy protein, fried taro patty, rice rolls with soya sauce, mock meat
What was most unique was that they had vegan “sashimi”! I’d never seen mock sashimi before and when I tasted it, it did taste cold and squishy like the texture of fish. I was really impressed!
Vegetarian sushi but that is plentiful in other restaurants:
They also have a noodle station where you can choose the type of noodles, broth, and toppings to put in it. The attendant then cooks up the ingredients for you and you get a hot bowl of noodle soup to enjoy. My mom chose the soya milk soup base and it was so delicious!
They also have an assortment of healthy desserts like chia seed pudding and lots of fruits and chopped up vegetables.
When you enter the restaurant and before you are seated, you actually have to pay first. They have a time limit (1.5 hours for lunch and 2 hours for dinner). They also tack on a 20% service fee to your bill, so it’s not like you can add a tip amount of your choosing yourself.
I like that there’s a vegetarian buffet in Richmond Hill now. I hope they continue to do well. 🙂 (They have printable coupons for 15% off your meal if you visit their website.)
Healthy eating is eating that supports a person’s best physical, mental, and emotional health. It also includes making proper and healthy food choices that meet one’s needs for nutrients and energy in their body, which can help in appropriate body maintenance and growth.
