After a quick lunch at Le Calalou, just before boarding the tour bus to get on the road again, I spotted the nearest cafe which sold waffles to get one to try. (There were actually so many waffle shops on the streets near Manneken Pis where the main tourist spots were but I didn’t grab one from there unfortunately.) Thus, this little shop off of the main area had to do. I just couldn’t leave Belgium without trying some famous Belgian waffles! Continue reading →

You got your narrow but sturdy ropes that hold you up, narrow foot paths and foot holds, narrow passes, and you have to squeeze yourself into small spaces sometimes to get through the obstacles. Le Calalou (Brussels, Belgium)

After we saw the infamous peeing boy statue, Mannekin Pis, we went for lunch. Belgium is well known for their mussels and fries combo, so we walked into an alley that was full of seafood restaurants and picked Le Calalou to try.

The only server there standing in front of the restaurant was enthusiastic and lured us in with bribes of free drinks and free wifi. Continue reading →
