February 11, 2018:
For lunch today, we went to Oriental Chu Shing Restaurant (東方明珠城) for dim sum!
Oriental Chu Shing Restaurant is in Chinatown in Ottawa. It’s a restaurant on the second floor (there is elevator access for those who are unable to take the stairs).
We got there around noon and only had to wait a few minutes to get a table for five. The place was packed! It was such a pleasant surprise to see the old traditional push cart trolley for dim sum. The majority of Chinese restaurants in Toronto have an order system instead of the traditional way.
We ordered an assortment of class dim sum dishes like preserved thousand year old egg congee, beef rice noodles (cheung fun), siu mai (pork dumplings), ha gow (shrimp dumplings), chicken feet, black bean spare ribs, spring rolls, jin diu, and also a platter of BBQ pork, and tofu flower at the end. I loved all of the dim sum!! It was so classic in taste and portion. It was definitely comfort food in the best way seeing as the dim sum was served in trolleys too. ^_^
I especially like the hand-scooped tofu flower as dessert at the end too. 🙂
I’d say that if you are in the Chinatown area of Ottawa and want authentic Chinese dim sum, this place is it. 😀
Yay thanks Ye for bringing us here!
