My Punta Cana Excursion. Part 1

Thurs. Dec. 26, 2013

Today, Holly and I travelled to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic! The entire trip to get there was smooth, starting off with her dad who drove us to Pearson International Airport at 2:30 am in the morning.  I love how Pearson’s boarding gates now have these really swanky tables and chairs for people to lounge in and outlets to charge their devices.   Continue reading

Lemon Tree [Defunct]

Located at 3255 Highway 7 East, Unit 9 in Markham

Let me start off by saying that I didn’t like this restaurant and you are better off going elsewhere for good Vietnamese, Malaysian, Thai, and Indonesian food.  Lemon Tree is one of the ubiquitous restaurants in the First Markham place mall strip.  The owners are Chinese and the restaurant is bare and clammy with no decorations.   Continue reading

Being a Part of the Studio Audience at Steven and Chris

At the Steven and Chris taping!

When my friend contacted me last week about an invitation to be a part of the studio audience at a television talk show called “Steven & Chris“, I was intrigued.  I had not seen any of their episodes (Sorry, Steven and Chris, if you’re reading this!), but since I am always up for brand new experiences, I was in.   Continue reading

Sneaky Dee’s

Located at 431 College St.  Thanks for the picture, Nhi! =)

Sneaky Dee’s has been a long-time popular establishment in downtown Toronto.  It is a grungy place that serves what is known as the best nachos in town, Tex-Mex and pub grub, bar, and live music.  The upstairs area serves as a concert venue for artists to showcase their talents.   Continue reading

Rough drafts

My steno machine with me on this journey…

“We have to take turns speaking or else the transcript will look like alphabet soup.”~ One of the most considerate lawyers I’ve ever worked with!

This past week, I had a real doozy of a week as a (still) newbie court reporter.  I was originally only scheduled for two jobs this week, so I thought, hey, this is going to be a great week —  I can do some work, take on a transcription file on the side, and get in some relaxing time (i.e. food blogging, catching up/stenoing to my much-ignored YouTube subscriptions, and settling into my warm spot at the computer while snow is billowing outside in -20 degree weather).   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Juxtaposition

Taken at the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, March 2013

Juxtaposition:  Old meets new — an imperial guardian lion coolly looks on as the famed Marina Bay Sands stands tall and unyielding in the clouds.  Similarly, the lush greenery representing Continue reading

Sandwich Box — Fast Lunches for Busy Folk

Sandwich Box located at 67 Richmond St W in Toronto

Sandwich Box is a simple eatery located on Richmond Street.  Located in the Financial District, busy suits are always searching for healthy yet delicious fast joints for a bite to eat before scurrying back to the office for more sit-down work.  (Haha, I am totally assuming that all suits sit in a cubicle all day, but that might not be the case at all!).   Continue reading

Authentic Taiwanese Food at Papa Chang’s

Papa Chang’s Asian Fusion

Betty and I had our eyes on this restaurant and I’m really glad that we tried this place out!  This hole in the wall serves Asian fusion and authentic Taiwanese food which is hard to find in the GTA in my opinion (the authentic food, not the restaurant 😉 ).  Papa Chang’s grew to fame during last summer’s annual Night Market where food stands galore take up entire parking lots for foodies to join together under the summer sky to eat various munchies for a couple of dollars per order.   Continue reading

Greek Food at Loui’s Kouzina

Greek cuisine at Loui’s Kouzina

Loui’s Kouzina is a highly rated Greek restaurant located at Woodbine and 16th Ave. in Markham.  I was very excited to see what it would be all about and dined here with my mom after the first Zumba session of the year (yay!).   Continue reading
