Green Grotto Tea Room

Passion Fruit drink. $4~

This is going to be a super brief food blog entry.

Green Grotto Tea Room is located near Steeles and Warden in Markham (also where a T&T Supermarket resides).  It’s a casual space for youngsters to gather and chat over drinks.  I love how they serve a bowl of free popcorn that you can snack on with your drink.  They serve a wide selection of hot drinks and cold drinks (including bubble tea), snacks, and dessert.   Continue reading

Skiing at Blue Mountain!

Skiing at Blue!

The very first time I squeezed my little feet into snug ski boots and attempted to glide my way down a barely-there hill on a pair of skis, I was in grade five.  I chose to spend several weeks in the Outdoor Education elective course rather than stay indoors to learn how to make bead necklaces or the other activities that were offered since I’d never been snowshoeing or skiing before.   Continue reading

Raku Ramen & Izakaya [Defunct]

Located at 8360 Kennedy Rd, Unit 87-90

I found myself at another izakaya after visiting Nomé Izakaya recently.  This time, I was in the mood for some sushi and ramen since I didn’t get the chance to have any last weekend.  It was perfect since there was a newly opened izakaya in Markham! 😀

Raku Ramen & Izakaya is located at the popular Peachtree Centre in Markham near Highway 7 and Kennedy Road.   Continue reading

Birthday Celebration at Nomé Izakaya

Nomé Izakaya located at 4848 Yonge St in North York

My friend Gen celebrated her birthday at Nomé Izakaya this past weekend.  We were a big group of close to 30 people and Nomé was able to accommodate us very well by reserving three long tables for us near the entrance of the restaurant.

I haven’t heard much about Nomé in the past, so I was very excited to try this izakaya out.   Continue reading

Okonomiyaki Galore at Okonomi House

Okonomi House located at 23 Charles St W in Toronto

Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake where the word okonomi means “what you like” or “what you want” and yaki means “grilled” or “cooked” (Thanks Wikipedia!).  Okonomi House, located just a three minutes’ walk from the Yonge & Bloor subway station in Toronto, has served different types of okonomiyaki for the past several decades, delighting the young and the old with this traditional Japanese dish.   Continue reading

Sharing Meat-based Tapas at The Black Hoof! [Defunct]

Their restaurant is hard to spot, which makes this a gem of a place to visit

The Black Hoof is a foodie’s adventure come true.  The shareable dishes, mostly of meat, are very distinctive and uniquely assembled for ideally two people to share.  On this promising night, five friends and I gathered to dine at this much-talked about restaurant.  I was super excited to say the least.  This excitement is hard to describe through words, but having placed this restaurant on my to-eat list for at least three months, I really wanted to rush there in a split second’s time and ravage everything on the menu.   Continue reading

Pyung Won House (Korean restaurant)

Located at 5588 Yonge St in Toronto

This is one of the many Korean restaurants located at the Yonge and Finch area (uptown Koreatown).  Pyung Won House is situated right below the popular Princess Café and across from the subway.  It is a modern Korean restaurant that is run by Koreans — at least the staff there are Korean.   Continue reading
