NCRA 2012 Convention and Exposition

First time attending the NCRA Annual Convention in Philadelphia

On August 9-12, I travelled to Philadelphia to attend the NCRA 2012 Convention and Exposition. This is an annual event hosted by the NCRA (National Court Reporters Association) where court reporters, CART providers, captioners, firm owners, and students come together from all over the world to network with others in the field. Meeting Jade, Steno Blogger and Court Reporter

This winter holiday, I traveled to Hong Kong to visit my relatives. I also took this opportunity to visit Jade King, a realtime court reporter who works at the Hong Kong High Court and International Arbitration Centre.

Jade has worked in captioning, CART, and the courts in Australia, and recently moved to Hong Kong to further her job aspirations. I first learned about Jade when a fellow CCVS classmate posted the link to her blog on the forums about six months ago. Continue reading

Back in Toronto!

Hello minus 6 degrees weather in Toronto!  I arrived back home last night after a 14-hour flight from Hong Kong.  For the first time since arriving home — I usually visit Hong Kong every one or two years — I want to be back there.  I want to be back in that bustling city full of life where you don’t need a car to get to places — you can just go downstairs and walk or take the super convenient MTR.   Continue reading
