Today was a really good day. π i was being stupid yesterday in my comments.
We visited some core tourist destinations and historical places of China today. First thing off the list, we went to Tiananmen Square. It was very crowded and sunny today. I got a tan on my neck by the end of the day. Took 290 pictures today. Saw the Imperial Palace and took pictures of all the stuff inside. After a while though, all of it started to look the same.

The emperor’s room. He had a different concubine to sleep with every night for 100 days! If I remember correctly… lol. Lucky b******
Had a really nice lunch at a Chinese restaurant in Wang fu jian (there was free wifi there). Bought some souvenirs and haggled well π Three of the guys ate fried scorpion. Mandy, Jen, and I went to get drinks and sat and talked since we were exhausted and dehydrated from all of the walking and shopping.
Went to the Temple of Heaven. Still don’t really know what it’s about…then dinner. Debrief. After dinner, Mandy, Jen, Wendy, and I took a 15-minute taxi to a really high-end massage parlour called Dragonfly. Mandy and I did the full body massage while J and W did the foot massage. Omg it was so good. I either fell asleep or almost fell asleep. It is similar in method to Angela’s, but the care and focus and strength is just right. The ambiance and atmosphere was so nice; there was a fake tree with hanging crystals in our room. Anyway, then we took the taxi home back to the hotel with a nice taxi driver who played “Aqua” in the car upon hearing us converse in English and then proceeded to attempt to show off to us in broken English.
Then the 4 of us went to eat siu yeh. Yummy skewers! The lamb skewer was the best, followed by the chicken wings, chicken knuckle, and chicken heart. Yum π

The girl grilled everything from a fold-out grill in the side of the building! So impressive! She was really nice too. We ate outside and had 2 rounds of the delicious skewers π
Now back at hotel and finished packing up since we’re checking out of our hotel tmr. Tomorrow we’re heading up the Great Wall of China! Finally! π hope it’s great π
Want to see what happened throughout the trip?
GREAT pictures – loved Beijing but I did not try the scorpions π I was chicken !
Thank you so much! I wasn’t able to try the scorpions with the three guys here in Beijing but I did end up trying them when I got to Shandong — that blog post to come later! π And if you want to check out the pictures in better quality, I’ve uploaded them onto my flickr page too π http://www.flickr.com/photos/101578418@N08/
