February 13, 2018: We stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Saint-Nicolas, Quebec. This was close to a few restaurants and a supermarket too but as it was near the highway, it was still a bit in the middle of nowhere.
The hotel was a bit small as most Comfort Inns are. The lobby was nice with a metal soldier as a display.
The double bed room we had was unexpectedly long and huge! I felt like there was a space for a third roll-away bed in the area near the window if necessary too.
There was free wifi, a rather smallish flat screen TV, but I was impressed they had a microwave and mini refrigerator inside the room. Toiletries were available too.
One thing I didn’t like about the room was that the curtains to the window didn’t close at all. There was no curtain to cover the window other than decorative end parts…. Our room on the second floor also faced the parking lot and entrance of the hotel. Thus, there was light coming in from the parking lot all night long. I like to sleep in a dark room (it is essential for anyone to get a good night’s sleep), so the fact that there was constant light from the window made it so hard to fall back asleep after I woke up at 4:30 a.m. for a pee break. I wonder if the other rooms also have windows with non-functioning curtains?
The room was clean but old. The furniture and wallpaper made the room look very dated.
The wall outlet between the two beds had two USB outlets too but they didn’t work. I had to resort to using a regular plug to charge my phone.
There was a continental breakfast the next morning in the dining room on the ground level.
I’ve been to another Comfort Inn before and the offerings are pretty much the same: cereal bar, refrigerator stocked with yogurt and hard boiled eggs, 1% and 2% milk dispenser, sausages and scrambled eggs, instant oatmeal packs, a coffee machine, and also a mini waffle maker.
On this visit, I had the sausage and scrambled eggs, and also made waffles using the waffle maker. They had original and chocolate batch to choose from. Yummy breakfast :).
I really hope Comfort Inn installs a curtain for room 205. Other than that, it was a good stay (even if the room was a bit dated).
