Lately I have loved eating out by myself. The Little House of Kebobs is a small family owned restaurant on Major Mackenzie Drive and Leslie Street in Richmond Hill beside Golden Horse Restaurant and close to Yummy Sushi (as well as a FreshCo). The Little House of Kebobs serves Persian/Iranian cuisine.
Three weeks ago, I decided to have lunch here after a yoga class. Walking in, I saw a great selection of assorted meat plates with rice on the menus above the counter. Immediately, one of the owners behind the counter recommended one of the mixed plates (Vaziri) to me as that was a good deal. It was priced at $15 flat and came with soup or salad. I chose the lentil soup (or the other choice was barley soup). I was ready to pay and the gentleman said I could pay at the end of my meal but I wanted to pay first before sitting down to eat. It’s a casual eatery but they do serve you the food with actual metal utensils on ceramic plates on a red tray.
The small bowl of lentil soup with lemon was served to me first. The soup was delicious!!! I cleaned it up in a matter of seconds.
The Vaziri mixed plate included lots of basmati rice, one skewer of koobideh, one skewer of chicken leg, a piece of crispy pork skin, butter, lemon, and a grilled whole tomato. The koobideh and chicken leg were so tender, well flavoured, and delicious. The combination of rice and meat was the perfect comfort food. The plate was a big portion. I was just super impressed with the tastiness and quality of the food at this restaurant.
Good thing I had a Tupperware container in my bag to take the leftovers home (I hate having to use single-use disposable containers from the restaurant just for my leftovers).
I so enjoyed my visit there, savouring each bite and watching CP24 news on their TV, and watching more and more customers arrive to fill up the tables. The Little House of Kebobs is a very good choice for a meal. I definitely will return again.
