Weekly Photo Challenge: Chaos

shuttle bus lines

Long line-up of shuttle-bus goers on Bloor Street, Toronto. August 2016

On the night of August 27 this year, after a reunion dinner with friends downtown, I was heading back home on the TTC transit system system in Toronto.  On this particular weekend, they were doing track maintenance work on the underground subway and thus shuttle buses were running from Eglinton Station to Yonge & Bloor Station.   Continue reading

Good Food & Bad Service at Japango

Chirashi from Japango

Japango located at 122 Elizabeth Street in Toronto

Disclaimer:  This is a blog post based on my own experience at Japango — clearly, this was not a good experience for me to be including this disclaimer but I am warning readers right now before you read the entire post because some people get easily offended and sensitive over “negative” reviews.  (Just a reminder, a review — good or bad — is someone’s personal experience.  People need to stop being so hyper-sensitive when they read something they don’t agree with.)   Continue reading

The Boil Bar Grand Opening Media Tasting (Yonge St)

The Boil Bar seafood cocktail

The Boil Bar located at 664 Yonge Street in Toronto

This past Saturday, I was invited to a media tasting event at the Grand Opening event of The Boil Bar in downtown Toronto.  Having had success in their uptown store, The Boil Bar has expanded a flagship store near the busy intersection of Yonge & Bloor at 664 Yonge Street.  You can get there by either walking from Yonge & Bloor subway station or Wellesley subway station.  What is different at The Boil Bar’s seafood boils compared to other ones is that they infuse alcohol into their seafood boils and cocktails!  We were all looking forward to trying out these alcohol-infused seafood boils! 🙂   Continue reading

Terroni at Adelaide

Terroni at Adelaide

Terroni at Adelaide located at 57 Adelaide Street East in Toronto

I’ve heard so much about Terroni but had never been to any location of theirs before to try a single Italian dish.  Thus, I was very grateful to be able to get to try it finally!  We went to Terroni at Adelaide on a Friday night — they have two other locations; one at Queen and one at Yonge at Price.

Terroni at Adelaide is located at 57 Adelaide Street East and housed inside the historic York County Court House, which served as the city court from 1852 to 1900.  How neat!   Continue reading

A couple of weeks ago, I received an e-mail from a representative from Media Nexus Network about an “Influencer Photography & Networking Event” (later branded as a “Networking & Photography Workshop” in a subsequent follow-up e-mail).  Within the e-mail, the representative described that this was an event where photography workshops would be set up for bloggers to create content, share ideas, and collaborate on site.   Continue reading

After attending the grand opening party of Ebisu on Queen two weeks or so ago, I returned to the restaurant to actually try out their food on a regular weeknight.  I had received a $20 gift voucher from them at the grand opening party and intended to use it towards my visit.   Continue reading

Complimentary Tasting Dinner at Té

tapas from Té restaurant

Té located at 70 Ossington Ave. in Toronto

When Grace Cho, the chef and co-owner at Té, reached out to me about visiting her restaurant for a complimentary tasting in order to get my feedback and review on Zomato I was excited and looking forward to the meal!

Té is an Asian fusion restaurant on the Ossington Strip of downtown Toronto.  Their menu is an Asian twist on North American bar foods and their cocktails are tea inspired; this includes bubble tea cocktails.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Transmogrify

crowds of people playing Pokemon Go

Signal Hill, TST, Hong Kong. September 2016

Transmogrify,” which means “to change in appearance or form, especially strangely or grotesquely; transform.”  Asides from the usual photos of butterflies, street art, or autumn colours, which I feel like has been overdone, the photo I’m choosing this week is typical of the activities that I partook in while I was in Hong Kong just a month ago:   Continue reading

South Korea 2016 Day 2: Palaces, Coffee, Lanterns, & Food Trucks

Seafood feast in Gangneung

Seafood feast with fresh fish soup and seafood by the ocean in Gangneung!

Day 2 Korea.  Sept. 15, 2016

Today was a really great second day in the land of kimchi and palaces (got to eat/see both of those today)!

In the morning, we locked up our hanok VERY securely with one of the primitive forms of lock and key — a chain with a stick 😂 — and then headed to the little cafe called Café Lee Mong right in the Gangneung Seongyojang village that was open to the public for free today thanks to it being a public holiday.   Continue reading
