The Boil Bar at Bloor Street West

The Boil Bar Bloor West

The Boil Bar located at 442 Bloor St W in Toronto

The last stop of our restaurant hopping tour was to The Boil Bar at the Annex.  We’ve been talking about visiting so that Ken could try the deep fried soft shell crab cocktail for a while and after walking on Bloor Street West and noticing that the second location of The Boil Bar was here, we stopped in to try it.   Continue reading

The Boil Bar Grand Opening Media Tasting (Yonge St)

The Boil Bar seafood cocktail

The Boil Bar located at 664 Yonge Street in Toronto

This past Saturday, I was invited to a media tasting event at the Grand Opening event of The Boil Bar in downtown Toronto.  Having had success in their uptown store, The Boil Bar has expanded a flagship store near the busy intersection of Yonge & Bloor at 664 Yonge Street.  You can get there by either walking from Yonge & Bloor subway station or Wellesley subway station.  What is different at The Boil Bar’s seafood boils compared to other ones is that they infuse alcohol into their seafood boils and cocktails!  We were all looking forward to trying out these alcohol-infused seafood boils! 🙂   Continue reading

Diana’s Oyster Bar & Grill located at 7501 Woodbine Ave in Markham

I had the pleasure and privilege to be invited to the Grand Opening event of Diana’s Oyster Bar & Grill in Markham this past Saturday (their second location).  This grand opening was actually scheduled to take place at the end of March when I received the e-mail invitation, but due to the Mayor of Markham also slated to be at the event, the event had to be moved two times to accommodate his schedule.  I was so glad that this third time was the charm!   Continue reading

Grand Opening Dinner Event at The Boil Bar!

The Boil Bar located at 633 Silver Star Blvd, Unit 110 in Scarborough

Thanks to Sweven Media, I was able to try one of Toronto’s newest Louisiana-inspired Cajun seafood boil restaurants!  The Boil Bar just opened up last month in February and already many people have been talking about it.  It is a unique seafood cuisine and a longtime favourite and trend in the American south.   Continue reading

Hot Pot on Yonge Chinese Cuisine

Hot Pot on Yonge Chinese Cuisine located at 5441 Yonge Street in North York

Hot pot is always fun!  It’s when you gather with some friends or family and place lots of raw and uncooked food into a boiling pot to eat together!  I think the origin of this Chinese cuisine started when people wanted to keep their food hot while eating.  For that reason, hot pot is especially common during the winter months.   Continue reading

Fish & Chips at Baked and Battered Cottage Bakery & Fish Fry

Baked and Battered Cottage Bakery & Fish Fry located at 128 Highland St in Haliburton

Finally, we come to the last restaurant we dined out at on this year’s MC & Prep Retreat. (Hello, soon-to-be-over-backlog at stenoodie.) :]  After a second lovely night at our private villas at Pinestone Resort, we woke up the next morning (rather late for most of us) and packed up and then headed to a local fish and chips restaurant for brunch at 11 a.m.   Continue reading

This is apparently the very first seafood boil in Toronto!  It is called The Captain’s Boil and just opened this past Friday on November 6, 2015 in North York, Toronto!  (Usually, I publish posts sequentially, but due to this newest hot spot in Toronto, this blog post is jumping ahead of my back-log!).

Thanks to my friend Patricia who helped us make reservations for this seafood boil restaurant and for Ai for noticing it, we were able to score a 8-person table at Toronto’s newest seafood restaurant.   Continue reading

Lobster Lunch at Lobster King

Located at 4911 Steeles Avenue East in Scarborough

For my birthday celebration with my mom this year, we went to Lobster King for lunch.  I’ve been wanting to eat lobster for a while now and to enjoy it over lunch with my mom, so it was perfect that we got to go on a Wednesday when I was also my Chinese birthday to have a small seafood feast.   Continue reading
