I’m not sure why there are so many Chinese restaurants that like to start off their restaurant name with “golden”, but it’s kind of amusing when you think that they probably want their business associated with the word “gold”. Also, it’s interesting that the name of this restaurant in Chinese translates to “Restaurant of Macau”. Anyway, Golden Horse Restaurant is a casual cha chan tang restaurant that serves breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch, or dinner sets. Everything that you order is usually accompanied by a tea or coffee, and if it’s a lunch or dinner combo, you also get a soup of the day. Continue reading
“Survived 3 passenger assistance alarms on the TTC just now.. Good thing I got out of the house with lots of time to spare and am still somewhat early. *shakes fist at the passengers who caused the delay* #mypoorbladder”
Those were my thoughts at 9:30 am this morning when I was on my way to job shadow a court reporter today. Continue reading

Gourmet Vegetarian Restaurant
It’s hard to come by a Chinese restaurant who has their website readily available for you to pursue their menu to see what is available to eat. Gourmet Vegetarian Restaurant is a friendly and high quality vegetarian Chinese restaurant. They serve mock meats, mock seafood, vegetables, noodles, and rice served in authentic Chinese-style dishes. Continue reading
I did my first ever 5K yesterday as part of the Canadian Cancer Society Colours of Hope 5K event! When I first received the e-mail from the Canadian Cancer Society about the event back in September, I knew wanted to do it. The event is similar to the very popular “Color Me Rad” one in which participants run through stations in the path where (non-toxic) coloured powder are thrown into the air. Continue reading
It’s been a while since I’ve shadowed a court reporter on a job. Today, I had the great opportunity to sit in with my friend and the girl who introduced me to stenography and taught me how to steno my first letters, punctuation, and word(s) on the stenograph! It’s a big deal. 😉 Continue reading
I’ve been doing a lot more exercise lately, both to improve my own health and also because I’m finding out more and more fun ways to work out. I’ve still been going to my Zumba classes weekly (sometimes 2-3 times a week) just because it’s so darn fun. I know almost all the dance moves in the songs now compared to when I first started and was flailing around all over the place. Dancing to the beat of high energy songs is just way too much fun. I’ve heard a lot about this place and have frequently seen my friends post up food pictures from Shiso Tree Cafe so I thought it was high time that I went to check it out as well. It is a small cafe located in Japantown in Markham. Continue reading
Today, for the first time ever, I ate at a restaurant all by myself! Up until this point, I’ve always dined with at least one other person out in public and the thought of eating alone always made me a little uncomfortable. Today, circumstances allowed me to eat alone, and I actually really enjoyed it! I was so pleased with the me-time that I even splurged a bit while I was eating at Fin Izakaya. Haha, let me tell you what I ordered for one. 🙂 Continue reading
I ate a scorpion today!!!!
Today we didn’t do too much; it was the only day where we had only one event in the itinerary. After a so-so breakfast (they had hot milk and sausages on a rolling grill), we went to the Lord Mengchang Mausoleum where it was so hot that even when we were standing there listening to the people talk, we were sweating. Continue reading
