DiSCOVER. Trip to China. Day 9. July 24, 2013.

Daming Lake

Today we went to Daming Lake and Confucius’s mansion, temple, and cemetery. Daming Lake was nice and lunch was really good too since the presentation of the food looked really nice and there was a live performance too. The rest of the day was filled with incredible heat and humidity. I sweated through my 5-short…   Continue reading

Happy 100th Blog Post!

I started blogging on a whim on March 21 of this year and holy mackerel, last night, I published my 100th post!  Woohoo!  Time flies and it’s been a good 7 months with weeks of travelling abroad, several new steno adventures, a sprinkle of musical outings, fun volunteer experiences, and of course, TONS of food posts!   Continue reading

My Favourite Chinese Dishes at Dong Kee Chinese Restaurant

Dong Kee Chinese Restaurant in Scarborough.
Menu, restaurant signage, soup of the day that comes with every dinner order (usually pig intestine soup).

Dong Kee located in Scarborough is one of my favourite go-to Chinese restaurants to dine at.  The food is good, the prices are cheap, and the portions aren’t big so that you can order more different dishes to share.  It’s a straight-forward and typical Chinese restaurant so don’t expect fancy china or exceptional service.   Continue reading

Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu — Korean Restaurant

Combination Soon Tofu (with shrimp, mussel, and beef) & Hot Stone Pot Rice. $7.53.
Located at 5445 Yonge Street in Toronto

This is one of the busiest Korean restaurants in the Yonge-Finch area in Toronto.  It’s essentially in Koreatown since most of the eateries and entertainment are Korean-owned.   A group of us from the Mon Sheong group met up tonight to have dinner at Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu.   Continue reading

Delicious Food at Bar Hop!

Bar Hop on 391 King Street West

After another strenuous and sweaty Flirty Girl Fitness workout, Holly, Steph, and I headed to Bar Hop for some delicious sustenance.  I hadn’t eaten very much all day long, so I was in the mood for lots of good food!  We had eyed this bar for a while now, especially after having seen it with such great reviews on Urbanspoon.   Continue reading

Panagio’s All Day Grill impressed me!

“Tex Mex Messy Burrito” $9.99 –scrambled eggs, bacon, green pepper, cheddar cheese, salsa, verde drizzled on top and served with home fries and fresh fruit on the side.
Located at 1928 McCowan Rd in Toronto

Do not be fooled by the unappetizing look of this breakfast burrito!  This “Tex Mex Messy Burrito” is one of the best breakfast burritos I’ve ever had (aside from THIS fast-food one!)!  It was perfectly spicy and exploded with egg, cheese, and peameal bacon, and green peppers inside of it.   Continue reading

Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup 2013 at Bluffer’s Park

Group photo after cleaning up the Scarborough Bluffs in 2013

This year’s Shoreline Cleanup takes place at Bluffer’s Park which is a beautiful sandy beach and park in Scarborough.  Compared to the rest of Scarborough, it is hard to find anything like the Bluffs.  Once you are there and hiking among the rocks and trees,  it feels like you’re not even in Canada at all.   Continue reading

Reds Wine Tavern & Nuit Blanche 2013

party banner

The October babies turn 25! Thank you Holly for this beautiful party banner! ^_^

Two of my friends and I share our birthdays in October with only a day in between one another.  This has led to our yearly celebration of our aptly named “October 1-3-5 birthday” festivities.  This was the first time in two years that all of us were reunited in the same city since Holly was teaching in Korea for the last two years.   Continue reading

A First Time Lunch at Sapporo Sushi

Sapporo Sushi interior

There were 2 sushi chefs working when we entered Sapporo Sushi. They were preparing a lot of take-out orders.   They have many “Eat Smart!” Awards displayed on their wall.

To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with Sapporo Sushi.  I had a lot of hope and expectation for it since I had heard of good things about it (current 90% ratings on Urbanspoon!).  Their staff is made up of Japanese people which means that the food is authentic.

The girl that is the only server there — it is a very small restaurant with only 8 Continue reading
