Montreal 2017 Day 4: Going Home, Lunch at Casse-Croute Chez Tipit

Casse-Croute Chez Tipit fried chicken

Best random lunch on the road!

August 7, 2017:  Our last day in Montreal was spent leaving and getting back to Ontario.  We woke up and first enjoyed the continental breakfast at the hotel though which was pretty good.

It was the Civic long weekend so many other tourists were getting back home to the west as well.  We left the hotel at around Continue reading

Montreal 2017 Day 3: Brunch at Restaurant L’Avenue, Mount Royal, Dinner at Au Pied de Cochon

 Au Pied De Cochon

Yay finally got to try Au Pied De Cochon!!

August 6, 2017:  On this third day of touring around Montreal, we hit up brunch at a famous spot, hiked up Mount Royal, and visited a restaurant that I’ve been dying to eat at! 😀

We woke up early today by 8:30 a.m. and grabbed some food from the breakfast area in the hotel.  Our plan was to hit up Restaurant L’Avenue (922 Mont-Royal Ave E, Montreal) because it was a restaurant that was famous for their brunch and you had to get there early to avoid the hour-long line-ups.  The friend who recommended me to try it said the line-up for her when she went was nearly two hours long!  Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Silence

 snow-covered streets

Markham, Ontario. January 2018

After a snowstorm in the winter, when you go out into the cold outdoors at night, there’s a certain silence that can’t be captured or put into words.  It’s different from the silence in a library or the silence in your own room at night.  The silence is almost muffled and it’s like the air is dead in a quieted state.  There’s really no silence quite like it.  Continue reading

A vibrant mural seen near Chinatown in Montreal on the second day of travels

August 5, 2017:  We had an amazing full foodie day today!  This was what foodie trips are made of. ^_^

We hopped onto the subway from Plamondon station at 10:30 a.m. towards Mont Royal station again.  Our first stop was to St-Viateur Bagel & Café Mont-Royal (1127 Mont-Royal Ave E, Montreal) to have some Montreal bagels for breakfast! 😀  Despite having been to Montreal a number of times, I never had a bagel from Montreal before.  Ken had had one the year before when Continue reading

Montreal 2017 Day 1: Prince Edward County Lavender, Ma Poule Mouillée, Night Stroll

Portuguese chicken from Ma Poule Mouillée

First meal in Montreal!

August 4, 2017:  I’m tackling my final backlog posts of 2017, my trip to Montreal in summer 2017. 😀 >.<

We started our road trip to Montreal bright and early.  I purposely wanted to get a head-start on the drive because we were driving there during the Civic Long Weekend and I would have despised having to wait unnecessarily in stop-and-go-traffic.  It already helped that we were leaving on a Friday, but I was still Continue reading

Thin-Crust Pizzas at Pie Wood Fired Pizza Joint in Woodbridge

 Clamtastic Pie

Pie Wood Fired Pizza Joint located at 200 Whitmore Rd, Unit #13 in Woodbridge

January 13, 2018:  Yesterday for lunch, we headed to Pie Wood Fired Pizza Joint in Woodbridge for pizza!  I was craving for it. 😀

When we arrived at 1 p.m., I was surprised that there weren’t very many guests inside.  I was expecting this place to be brimming with people on a Saturday afternoon.  I first heard about Pie Wood when we tried to wait Continue reading

Southern Chinese Food at Green Tea Restaurant in Markham

Stir Fried Lamb on Sizzling Hot Stone Plate

Green Tea Restaurant located at 3235 Hwy 7 E, Unit 18 in Markham

January 12, 2018:  After attending the tasting event at Green Tea Restaurant last month, I visited Green Tea Restaurant again in order to use up the $30 credit voucher that I received from the event.  (I actually tried to go to Green Tea Restaurant two times before that — the first time, the door was looked at around 4 p.m. on a weekend so we assumed they were probably closed for their staff to rest or something; Continue reading

Day 6 in Changsha, China 2017: Orange Island Park, Clay Pot Rice, Airport

Visiting a local restaurant on the last day

September 18, 2017:  The final day in Changsha was a fairly chill one.  There was no set itinerary at all for this day as it was meant to be a fly-out day.  Some tourmates had their flights back home or to another city early in the morning, some tourmates had them in the middle of the day, or like us, we had our flight back to Hong Kong at night.  Thus, we had a full day in Changsha to do whatever we wanted (within reason though because Continue reading

Day 5 in Changsha, China 2017: Sandstone Paintings, Boat Ride Through the Mountains, Stalagmites in Yellow Dragon Cave

stalagmites in a cave

Day 5 included going to Yellow Dragon Cave to view these colourful stalagmites!

September 17, 2017:  On the fifth day of the trip, it was an early morning once again to have a continental breakfast in the dining room of this hotel (the same dining room where we had dinner last night).  Before going down for breakfast though, I made sure to go onto the balcony to soak up the sights and sounds of the local vicinity once more.  It was really nice out there.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Weathered

 Flowerpot Island

Flowerpot Island, Tobermory. August 2017

This past summer, we took a trip up to Tobermory in northern Ontario.  One of the highlights was to see Flowerpot Island, an island featuring “flowerpots” where the water has met the land and gradually weathered the rocks of the island that broke away to become a solitary standing ‘flowerpot’.

It wasn’t until reading one of the touristy signs near this big flowerpot Continue reading
