Winterlicious 2018 Restaurant #2: The Queen and Beaver Public House

The Queen and Beaver Public House food

The Queen and Beaver Public House located at 35 Elm St in Toronto

February 1, 2018: Betty and I had lunch at The Queen and Beaver Public House.  We came here for their winterlicious lunch menu.  I had picked a number of contenders for our lunch but since this one was closest to her workplace and Betty hadn’t had British food before, this one won the lot.

I called the restaurant to make a reservation for a 1 p.m. lunch the day Continue reading

Attending the Yelpie Awards 2018

The Yelpie Awards 2018

The Yelpie Awards hosted at the Richmond Hill Centre For the Performing Arts located at 10268 Yonge St in Richmond Hill

January 28, 2018.  Although I initially wasn’t fully interested in attending the Yelpie Awards, I was glad that I accepted the invitation and decided to go.

This year’s Yelpie Awards were held at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts (at Yonge and north of Major Mac) at 7 p.m.  It was a really straight-to-the point “ceremony” Continue reading

Lining up to try Konjiki Ramen in North York!

Konjiki Ramen clam soup

Konjiki Ramen located at 5051 Yonge St in North York

January 21, 2018:  After the opening weekend “giveaway” at Meet Fresh, we headed straight down the street to Konjiki Ramen (located across from the North York Civic Centre) to see what all the hype was about.  Konjiki Ramen comes from Japan and is Michelin-recommended for their best-tasting ramen and unique clam-based soup base.

I already expected a line-up and a line-up we did enter into!  We waited in line for a total of exactly one hour from 12:20 to 1:20 p.m.  Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Variations on a Theme

 Paint Nite in Toronto

Paint Nite, Toronto. June 2014

I love this week’s theme!

This photo shows the very first time I went to a Paint Nite event.  It’s a painting class paired with drinks where we learn from an instructor who briefly teaches us how to complete a specific painting — that we chose from a set.  Every person’s painting was different even though we learned from and “copied” from the same source.  Each photo is beautiful in its own way!

I remember looking Continue reading
