We went to the Tai Kok Tsui branch of North Viet Pho (越北牛肉粉專門店) for dinner. We were one of a handful of tables inside the strongly air-conditioned and quiet restaurant. I ordered the Vietnamese Sausage with Tomato Soup Pho while my mom ordered the Beef with Satay Soup Pho.

Today we went to an AYCE Japanese shabushabu and sukiyaki hot pot restaurant called Gyujin Shabu Shabu & Sukiyaki Restaurant (牛陣). My aunt recommended this to us saying that their lunch deal was a steal. September 19, 2017: For dinner that night, we went to Hai Fook 潮福蒸氣石鍋 in Tai Po for steam pot dinner. Steam pot meals started getting popular in Hong Kong at least since last year in 2016 when I was visiting but never tried it. September 19, 2017: Yesterday for lunch, I again consulted OpenRice for some good eats around the area. It showed me Golden Captain Restaurant (金船長餐廳) which specialized in Italian cuisine and had a specialty pizza which almost all the reviews were about. Thus, we went there to check it out.
Golden Captain Restaurant opened at 11 a.m. and we arrived around noon. There were lots of people dining in and taking advantage of their favourable lunch combo. Most of the diners were of the younger crowd.

First meal in Changsha, China
September 13, 2017: I’ve never been to Changsha before and I was inspired to go after seeing photos online of the historic and mountainous regions. It is also the area that the movie Avatar was filmed in inspired from.
This tour was part of the “Beautiful China” tour subsidized by the Canadian government for only $99 per person for 6 days of sightseeing. Hotels stays and majority of the meals were covered, but tips for the tour guide and driver as well as certain admission fees were priced separately. Flight to and back were also our own payment too. I really liked this hotel! We stayed at Dorsett Mongkok Hong Kong for a couple of days and checked out on September 13, 2017.
We knew of this hotel thanks to a family friend who recommended it to us based on its cleaniness, affordability, and convenience.
It’s very close and convenient for transit. There is a minibus, number 12A, that goes to the Mongkok East station just around the corner of the hotel (ride takes around 5 minutes). The A21 airport express bus is also available just 7 minutes’ walk from the hotel.
