Europe 2016 ~ Day 9: Flying home

Charles de Gaulle Airport

Charles de Gaulle Airport located at 95700 Roissy-en-France, Paris, France

Thursday, April 21, 2016.  Day 9 flying home.

This morning, had to actually wake up half an hour earlier than usual (we had been waking up to breakfast at 7 a.m. every day on the tour) at 6:30 a.m. to eat breakfast and to go directly to the airport (Charles de Gaulle).

Check-in was at 8 a.m. sharp so we were the very first ones in line.

McCafe macarons

Even the McCafe sells macarons in Paris!

So many macarons for you to buy home to give as souvenirs… or as a last-minute indulgence

So beautiful and brightly coloured!

I wonder what all these flavours were

Once inside, we had a lot of time to explore.  In addition to the typical duty free store and lots more macarons, I saw that there was another Ladurée maracon shop inside the airport.  So pretty to look at all the perfect macarons and sweets again.  I did want to have another macaron..

Definitely indulging in a last-minute French pastry fix

After this sweet stop, I browsed the gift shops and got to try some foie gras from one of the souvenir shops!  Mmm, it was actually so good and smooth.  I had more than one. :p

Our flight back to Toronto was at 11 a.m.

We were delayed by 20 minutes but still managed to arrive at Toronto Pearson Airport ahead of schedule before 1 p.m.  Sweet!

The flight was non-eventful.  I slept, ate, and sorted my photos from the trip.

Meals on Air Canada from Paris to Toronto

Man, these airline meals are so good!!  I loved the orzo pasta salmon that I had.  It was so good!!  Even the other tomato sauce pasta dish was delicious too.

About an hour before we landed, we were served some hot wraps.  Mmm.  There was a Cajun spicy chicken wrap that was soft, gooey with cheese, and perfect for a light snack.  I loved it so much that I actually asked the stewardess for another one. XD

This time, I tried the vegetarian version which had mushrooms and the same tomato and cheese.  This wrap tasted good too, especially the floppy mushrooms, but the Cajun chicken wrap was still the best.

All in all, what an absolutely amazing nine days we had!!!  I can’t express how grateful and blessed I felt for the entire duration of the trip.  One can only venture to Europe so much for vacation in a lifetime and see the sights I did, so it is imperative to show my gratitude. ^_^

I can say that this was one of the best vacations ever.  I got to visit five new countries in one go and so many of them are places I’ve always want to visit.  Talk about a bucket list crossing-off-list! ^_^

With that said though, the places that I did get to visit this time were all quite quick and not thorough at all.  I’d certainly like to visit again, especially Paris and Germany.  Such beautiful places!! 🙂

Thanks for tuning into my blog to read all about my adventures in Europe this time around! 🙂

(For those wondering, the nine-day tour at Tian Bao Travels cost $1700 per person including flight and hotel.  Tour guide and driver fee, some meals, and most attraction fees were not included.)

And a bonus, view all of the blog posts during my nine-day trip to Europe in 2016! ^_^

      • completely missed that! Was it good for travels? did the schedule feel completely like a rush? is it good for couples with young children (baby, toddler)? I thought Taipan Tours had something similar for Europe travel … Sorry for all the questions ..

      • I think if you read through my posts of where we went each day and what we did, you’ll get a better sense of if this tour is a good fit for you (you can click the links of each day that I blogged about in the links above^).

Personally, I loved this tour and how the schedule wasn’t rushed, and how most of the meals weren’t included so that I could pick and choose my own local eats in each city. I don’t have young children so I can’t really answer that for you. Everyone else in our tour group were all adults as well; no one with young kids. Hope that helps!
