I had the pleasure to be invited to Uncle Tetsu’s Unionville Markham location to taste their brand new cheesecakes, Sakura flavour and Yuzu flavour, exclusive to this location only.
It was actually my first time to the Unionville Markham location of Uncle Tetsu’s. I had tried their downtown Toronto location before when I bought an original Uncle Tetsu Cheesecake in the summer last year. When I passed by the Unionville location in the autumn, I noticed they had a line-up of people and there were again people lining up when I arrived this past Saturday.
Their Japanese style No Bake Cheesecake had two flavours: Sakura and Yuzu. These two flavours are only available at the Unionville location.
The Sakura No Bake Cheesecake was very pretty with Sakura flowers over it and a transparent jelly gloss. It tasted a little sweet and the no bake cheesecake part was very creamy. When I bit into the sakura flower part of the cake, there was a small explosion of sweetness and flavour in my mouth.
The Yuzu No Bake Cheesecake was also a pretty yellow cake with the yuzu fruit rinds on top of it. What I loved the most about this creamy cheesecake was that after you ate it, you had a definite yuzu refreshing aftertaste left in your mouth. It was very citrusy and tart. If you want a refreshing cheesecake that is more unique, this one will be worth trying! There was also a cookie crust base on the cake that tasted great.
(However great these No Bake Cheesecakes were though, I have to say that $8 for a small size or $35 for a large size was very expensive. If you want to try it, try it once and share with a friend to split the costs.)
Happily, there is a 20% coupon available for the Uncle Tetsu’s Sakura Cheesecake if you register for the Toronto Gourmand Club. This free exclusive club is for foodies and those who want to participant in events. You can click this link to register.
Thank you Uncle Tetsu for inviting me to try out your new cheesecakes! 🙂 I’m sure I’ll be back to try out more creations from your Unionville location (Markham residents rejoice!).
