Day 2 Korea. Sept. 15, 2016
Today was a really great second day in the land of kimchi and palaces (got to eat/see both of those today)!
In the morning, we locked up our hanok VERY securely with one of the primitive forms of lock and key — a chain with a stick 😂 — and then headed to the little cafe called Café Lee Mong right in the Gangneung Seongyojang village that was open to the public for free today thanks to it being a public holiday. Touhenboku Cafe located at 142 Main St., Unionville
What a surprise it was to see that there was a Touhenboku Cafe while strolling down Main Street Unionville yesterday! I didn’t know that in addition to the ramen restaurants that Touhenboku had opened up (one on Queen Street West and one in Richmond Hill) that they had an individual cafe shop too! OktoberFEAST 2016 located at Markham Museum at 9350 Markham Rd. in Markham
OktoberFEAST 2016 was held last night at the Markham Museum near Markham Road and 16th Avenue in Markham. It was an event where local food and drink vendors came together to raise funds to fight against cancer by supporting the Canadian Cancer Society.
I was aware of this event a month ago when Andrea, the digital content specialist at CCS, contacted me about helping them to promote this event in exchange for some compensation and free admission to the event. Continue reading

It is right in the heart of downtown where Chinatown is in Toronto. 98 Aroma aims to serve fine Chinese cuisine, specifically that from the northern part of China. De Code Adventures located at 6620 Kitimat Rd in Mississauga
As part of Tam’s birthday festivities this year, she celebrated with an escape game at De Code Adventures in Mississauga. De Code Adventures has opened for more than two years already but it was my first time hearing about them and thus my first time playing one of their games.

Ohsaekdalbit, Gangneung Culture Night in Gangneung, Korea. September 2016
This was one of my favourite photos from my trip to Korea this summer. It was the second annual Ohsaekdalbit, Gangneung Culture Night, and volunteers manning the booths were handing out lanterns in the colours of the South Korean flag — very patriotic. This celebration was in light of Chuseok, a major harvest festival and a three-day holiday celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar on the full moon. Continue reading
