Viet’s Choice (Hong Kong)

Located at Shop 111, 1/F, Citylink Plaza, 1 Sha Tin Station Circuit, Sha Tin in Hong Kong

Sometimes, the design and architecture of a restaurant really draws you in.  For example, this restaurant called Viet’s Choice located at the Sha Tin plaza was made to look like a Vietnamese neighbourhood complete with street signs, courtyard, and paintings.  It was really cool!  For that reason, we ended up having a late lunch here.   Continue reading

Alaskan King Crab Legs & Hairy Crabs part 2 at VHR

Located at Shop 101-102, 2/F, Uptown Plaza, 9 Nam Wan Road, Tai Po in Hong Kong

Remember last year in March (I still can’t believe it’s only been a little more than a year) when I blogged about going to this restaurant to have these amazing long Alaskan king crab legs for dinner with all of those pictures of endless crab legs for day? (Ate them in March but blogged about later in the year).  Well, during this year’s visit in HK, we went back for them again.   Continue reading

Back in Toronto! pt 2

Autumn trip 2014

Stop!  Reflection time!  The reason I started this very blog was only a little more than a year ago in March of 2013.  See the post here.  I remember flying back from my Asia trip and into Toronto and starting my blog the day afterwards.  I wanted a place to document my thoughts, pictures, and adventures but didn’t want to just shove a bunch of pictures onto the servers of Facebook anymore.   Continue reading

Parkview Restaurant (Hong Kong)

Located at Shop 117, 1/F, New Town Plaza Phase 1, 18 Sha Tin Centre Street in Sha Tin, Hong Kong

For lunch, we had quasi-Italian food at a classy-looking restaurant called Parkview Restaurant in the Sha Tin New Town Plaza.  I call it quasi because you know it’s not truly authentic but it is definitely in the realm of Italian food.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Angular

apm shopping mall, Hong Kong. November 2014

For a more interesting interpretation of this week’s photo challenge of Angular, I choose this photo.  For this mascot/cartoon character of a children’s clothing store, being angular is a way of life.   Continue reading

Hui Lau Shan Healthy Dessert

Located all over Hong Kong

Toronto should have more of these!  Why aren’t these more in the food industry?  Is it because of big-name chains like Tim Hortons and Menchies that crowd out all the small-size snack shops?  Or maybe because Torontonians care more for sugary sweets than fresh fruits (lack of access to these).   Continue reading

Ajisen Ramen (Hong Kong)

Located inside the Hong Kong International Airport

Everyone knows about Ajisen Ramen.  It’s one of the first ramen places that popped up in Toronto before the ramen craze began.  Before that, it’s always been a global franchise that has shown off its ramen and tendon pork ribs broth in many countries around the world.   Continue reading

御花園 (Hong Kong)

Located in Sui Wo Court in Sha TIn, Hong Kong

Simple meals are best!  Despite loving unique dishes and out-of-the-ordinary cuisines or delicacies, I crave the simplest meals often.  An example is congee!  After many heavy meals with high GI foods, a meal with lots of veggies and simple carbs is best.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Achievement

Undergraduate convocation, U of T. June 2012

Achievement to most people is earning a specific level of education, game, acclaim, or quite simply an attainment of a previously set goal.  Achievement is partnered with ‘success’ where we think that once we achieve something, we are successful.   Continue reading

Tsui Wah Restaurant (Hong Kong)

Located at No. 50, Level 3, Shatin Plaza, Shatin in Hong Kong

Tsui Wah Restaurant is located right next to Tai Hing.  They are both HK-style restaurants where you can order breakfast sets, lunch sets, afternoon tea, dinner, and more (do I still refer to these cafes as ‘HK-style’ if they are actually located in HK? Lol — rhetorical question).   Continue reading
