Juicy Hamburgers at Harvey’s

 Harvey's hamburgers

Harvey’s located at 8865 Yonge St in Richmond Hill

January 7, 2018:  Were hamburgers at Harvey’s always this juicy?  I haven’t stepped into a Harvey’s in a while and even though Harvey’s is technically a fast food restaurant (which I don’t usually blog about), I think this juicy hamburger warrants a post from Continue reading

 Lucky Noodle noodle soups

Lucky Noodle located in Denison Centre at 1661 Denison St, Unit #39 in Markham

January 5, 2018:  Lunch at Lucky Noodle!  This restaurant used to be a Japanese all-you-can-eat restaurant.  I don’t venture around this area anymore but we were in the Denison Centre to book our next trip and came here for lunch since it was convenient.  This was the coldest day on record so far.   Continue reading

All You Can Eat Hot Pot Dinner at Made in China Hot Pot

Made in China Hot Pot storefront

Made in China Hot Pot located at 505 Highway 7 East in Markham

January 1, 2018:  First dinner of the year at a new hot pot restaurant!  I hadn’t been to this location of Made in China before.  I’ve been to the one at Midland and Finch a long time ago.

Made in China is an average hot pot restaurant.  It used to be one of the few hot pot restaurants in the GTA and very popular for its affordable meals and typical hot pot items.  Continue reading

Dinner at Tsuki Izakaya in Richmond Hill

Tsuki Izakaya food

Tsuki Izakaya located at 135 York Blvd in Richmond Hill

Dec. 31, 2017:  On the last day of the year, we went out for izakaya food.  We went to Tsuki Izakaya at Hwy 7 and Commerce Valley in Richmond Hill.  We had previously tried to dine here for lunch, but it wasn’t open for lunch on the weekends.

We arrived at Tsuki Izakaya on a freezing cold night at 5:30 p.m. and were one of the first customers there.  I loved the interior design of the place!  Continue reading

Hotel Review: Club Quarters Hotel, Central Loop in Chicago

Club Quarters Hotel, Central Loop entrance

Club Quarters Hotel, Central Loop located at 111 W Adams St in Chicago

What an excellent hotel!  We stayed here during our Chicago trip in December 2017 for three nights (December 27 to 30).  This was part of the hotels chosen with a flight package bought through Expedia.

Club Quarters Hotel, Central Loop is located in the business district of Chicago and thus it’s rather quiet in the night and on the weekends.  It is walking distance to the Willis Tower and subway as well as relatively close to Continue reading

Skydeck Ledge at Willis Tower

My favourite photo from the day. Jumping in the Skydeck Ledge at the Willis Tower 103 floors above ground

Sat. Dec. 30, 2017:

This is going to be a fiery post.

Fourth day and the last day in Chicago!  I was glad that our flight was at 5:45 p.m. so that we would have a near full day of sightseeing still.

The intention was to wake up early and start Continue reading

Something random and something fun

One of those Facebook quizzes or old e-mail chains that people like to share.  Instead of sharing it on social media (wait, does WordPress count as social media?), I’m putting it here as a blog post.  Enjoy!

1. What was the last thing you put in your mouth?  Continue reading

360 Chicago views

View from the 94th floor of the 360 Chicago

Friday, Dec. 29, 2017:

Third and final full day in Chicago!  Time flies when you’re on vacay.

Today we left the hotel a bit later than usual around 10:30 a.m. (had a small breakfast in our room) and took the subway to Chicago Station where we went up the Chicago 360 Building (875 N Michigan Avenue, 94th Floor) (formerly the John Hancock Building) . Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Growth

 Tree buds

Markham, Ontario. May 2016

This week’s challenge starting off the new year is “growth”.  While I think this theme is very apt for the new year, my photo is kind of inappropriate for this time of the year.  XD  It’s cloudy and cold and dreary and devoid of any greens or fresh growth outside.  This was a photo I took in the spring time more than a year ago at a time when things really come alive physically.  Continue reading
