Autumn in Europe 2014 ~ Day 2: Barcelona & Valencia, Spain

Morning stroll in Barcelona ❤

Day 2 of being in Europe in Spain!  I was so excited to see more of what Spain had to offer.  😀  We were still in Barcelona on the second day but proceeded towards Valencia by end’s day.   Continue reading

It’s the Cat’s Meow Cafe

Located at 138 Robinson St in Markham

Betty and I visited a cafe that we have long wanted to go to now called It’s The Cat’s Meow Cafe.  This very small but cozy cafe is located on Main Street Markham and just two shops down from Rawlicious.

Very quickly after walking in, you understand why it is called It’s The Cat’s Meow — Continue reading

Kim Tao Hot Pot

Located at 10 E Wilmot St in Richmond Hill

After our highly successful Motives make-up party (in which I also became the owner of my very own custom made foundation to match my exact skin tone) and also a highly successful birthday cake surprise for James, we headed to Kim Tao Hot Pot for, you guessed it, hot pot! Continue reading

Nak Won Korean Restaurant (Yonge & Finch)

Located at 5594 Yonge St in North York

I’ve been to this Korean restaurant before.  It’s one that most people have heard of and know and love.  A big group of us came to Nak Won Korean Restaurant after our super spectacular meetings for a late dinner.

Let me just speak about the dish that I ordered:  short ribs with rice in a hot stone pot.   Continue reading

My 7th Escape Room Game: EscapeZone (Spadina & College)

Located at 388 Spadina Ave in Toronto

Another day, another escape game. ^_^  Yesterday, on a sunny but cold winter weekend day (we’re talking -19 C), seven of us braved the cold and hit up EscapeZone, which is located in the heart of downtown near Kensington Market on Spadina near College Street.  EscapeZone is like all the other escape games that have exploded in all of GTA since it offers team players challenging puzzles and clues in a locked themed room to escape out of in a set period of time.

Carol helped us book the highest difficulty level room which was called “Da Vinci Code” and was art-themed in a parallel universe.   Continue reading

Dinner at Turtle Jack’s Muskoka Grill

Located at 10 Vogell Road in Richmond Hill

Tracy and I were due for a catch-up so we met up at Turtle Jack’s Muskoka Grill. This is a restaurant that you notice when driving east and west on 16th close to Leslie.  It’s right beside a Fraticelli’s (a really yummy Italian restaurant that I visited in my pre-blogging day and haven’t had the chance to re-visit again yet).   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Shadowed

Kensington Market, Toronto. February 2013

I think the reason why I like doing these WPCs so much is that not only do I get to choose a nice photo from my archives and show it off (I’m a show-off :D), but I also get to pontificate about whatever’s on my mind at the moment.  Writing is such a catharsis!  For this week’s theme, I chose this photo to show “shadowed”.   Continue reading

Keung’s Delight (Warden & Steeles)

Located at 7030 Warden Ave, Unit 1 in Markham

Keung’s Delight‘s is similar to restaurants like Kenny’s Noodle –which I’ve blogged about before at Steeles and Old Kennedy — or Congee Wong, Congee Queen, etc.  After a good coring meeting, our team went out for dinner and we ate at Keung’s Delight!  It’s a good place for affordable Chinese food of rice, noodle, congee, soup, and Chinese dishes in a low-key environment.   Continue reading

Autumn in Europe 2014 ~ Day 1: Barcelona, Spain

me in Park Güell

Yay!  Travel series!  I haven’t done one of these in a while, so this post will recount the activities that stood out to me when I was travelling in October 2014 to Spain and Portugal.  First stop:  Barcelona!

We departed from the airport gates from Hong Kong as a group of 11 on October.  We were touring with a Chinese tour group which meant that all of our itinerary for the 10-day tip was planned meticulously from where we visited, stayed, and ate.  It’s not a bad deal at all and very affordable and you don’t have to worry about any of the travel details.   Continue reading

Donburi Japanese Restaurant

Located at 505 Highway 7 in Richmond Hill

Helen and I tried out Donburi.  It’s a Japanese chain that has restaurants all over the world.  It resembles another chain that is very prevalent in Hong Kong called Yoshinoya.  Its Chinese name is very similar to the one of Donburi (吉野家).  Perhaps it is a copycat restaurant (or vice versa)?  The food that they serve is the same.  Donburi specializes in servings of Japanese curry, cutlets, japas (Japanese tapas), chicken rice bowls, and they also have polar beer which I find fascinating!   Continue reading
