Weekly Photo Challenge: Gone, but not Forgotten

Markham, Ontario. May 2008

This week’s theme “Gone, but not Forgotten” is difficult to apply to just a season or to a food item that I might have just finished and “miss”.  This theme truly resonates with me about a person or living thing.   Continue reading

Honeymoon Desserts (Hong Kong)

Located at Shop 704A, 7/F, New Town Plaza Phase 1, 18 Sha Tin Centre Street, Sha Tin in Hong Kong

Honeymoon Desserts began its first shop in Sai Kung as a dessert shop that offered traditional desserts and modern “east-meets-west fusion” desserts.  I remember going to the shop in Sai Kung many years ago after we had a delicious seafood feast at the restaurants in Sai Kung.

This time, the three of us were choosing a place to sit and eat a light snack before dinner and we settled here at Honeymoon Desserts.   Continue reading

Hainan Shaoye (Hong Kong)

Located in Shop 113, Level 1, New Town Plaza, 18 Sha Tin Centre Street, Sha Tin in Hong Kong

The name of this restaurant, “Hainan Shaoye“, is actually made up of four Chinese characters where “Hai na” means “Southern China” and  “shao ye” means “master”.  The type of food in this restaurant is exactly that — it features food from mostly Southern China with Singaporean and Malaysian flavours and their restaurant serves a popular Hainanese Chicken Rice.   Continue reading

Blogger Media Preview Event at Han Ba Tang

Located at 4862 Yonge Street in North York

When I first received the invitation e-mail from Acorn Communications regarding this Blogger Media Preview Event at Han Ba Tang, I absolutely didn’t expect it to be so smoothly organized and cater to the bloggers so well with such delicious food.  It is very considerate of the owner to host this event for two nights for Toronto’s eminent bloggers to try out this new Korean fusion tapas restaurant.  I felt very honoured and excited to be part of this event!   Continue reading

Xscaper Arts — escape room game [Defunct]

Located at 150 Main Street, Side Entrance in Unionville

Room escape games! ❤  Yesterday, I had the privilege of playing at Xscaper Arts yesterday with some friends.  Xscaper Arts opened up in June of this year and is a live escape room game.  These have been super popular ever since ESC-IT first launched in Toronto earlier this year and since then, multitudes of copycat and related escape room games have been born.   Continue reading

Located at Shop 6 & 9-10, Siu Yat Bldg, 9 Sai Kung Hoi Pong Sq, Sai Kung District in Hong Kong

Sai Kung.  A place to enjoy the nice boardwalk at the harbour and a fabulous seafood meal.  A visit to HK is never complete without a stop in Sai Kung for its famous seaside seafood made fresh in one of the boardwalk restaurants.   Continue reading

MyungDongOk Korean Restaurant 明洞屋 (Hong Kong)

Located at Shop B, South East Mansion, 75-77 Kimberley Road , Tsim Sha Tsui in Hong Kong

It’s funny how we decided to go for Korean food just days before our trip to South Korea.  We went to MyungDongOk Korean Restaurant for dinner, a restaurant that I’ve been to the last time I was in HK.  I would have opted for a new Korean restaurant as always, but when you have a big group, you have to go with the flow.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Converge

Taken in Lisboa, Portugal.  November 2014

Every week, I try to find the perfect picture for the weekly photo challenge.  Sometimes I succeed immediately, finding both the perfect picture that fits the theme and also a cute story that goes with it.  Sometimes I take up to an hour going through my photos and choosing between several since they don’t exactly show what I think the theme is talking about.   Continue reading

Chao Yang Chinese Cuisine 朝陽飯莊 (Hong Kong)

Located at 27/F, Shop 1, iSquare, Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui in Hong Kong

Ah, Chao Yang Chinese Cuisine.  The last time we were in Hong Kong, we went to this restaurant to eat as well.  It’s located in iSquare in Tsim Sha Tsui in Hong Kong on the 27th floor which means that it overlooks some amazing views in Hong Kong.  We didn’t sit near the windows this time so I didn’t get a shot of the view but you feel pretty good to have nice (Northern) Chinese food at this place!   Continue reading

海皇粥店 Ocean Empire (Hong Kong)

Located in Sha Tin in Hong Kong

Remember when I said that simple is much needed and desired every so often?  After we came back from our Eurotrip, we wanted something hydrating and simple.  So we searched out a congee shop and found this one!  Apparently Ocean Empire has locations all over HK and is a clean, fast-food-like, chain restaurant that specializes in congee.   Continue reading
