Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake where the word okonomi means “what you like” or “what you want” and yaki means “grilled” or “cooked” (Thanks Wikipedia!).  Okonomi House, located just a three minutes’ walk from the Yonge & Bloor subway station in Toronto, has served different types of okonomiyaki for the past several decades, delighting the young and the old with this traditional Japanese dish.   Continue reading

Sharing Meat-based Tapas at The Black Hoof! [Defunct]

Their restaurant is hard to spot, which makes this a gem of a place to visit

The Black Hoof is a foodie’s adventure come true.  The shareable dishes, mostly of meat, are very distinctive and uniquely assembled for ideally two people to share.  On this promising night, five friends and I gathered to dine at this much-talked about restaurant.  I was super excited to say the least.  This excitement is hard to describe through words, but having placed this restaurant on my to-eat list for at least three months, I really wanted to rush there in a split second’s time and ravage everything on the menu.   Continue reading

Touhenboku Ramen

It’s simply a bowl of noodles with three toppings to choose from.  That’s what Jim Chai Kee Noodle is all about.  This restaurant started way back in 1994 so it has a lot of history, loyal customers, a solid fan base, and lots of bowls of wonton noodles served over these 20 years! 🙂   Continue reading

NCRA Convention 2013 in Nashville. Day 5. August 11, 2013.
