A Savory Crepe from Muncheez Creperie

Muncheez Creperie savory crepe

Muncheez Creperie located at 7181 Yonge St, Unit #21 in Thornhill

May 28, 2017:  Just as we were off to Doors Open 2017 in Toronto, the babe got me a quick lunch since he knew that I was hungry.  We had always been talking about visiting Muncheez Creperie but never around to going there.  Thus, he decided to surprise me and pick up a crepe from there to satisfy my hunger cravings.  Yay!

Unless I’m mistaken, he got the Big Bird savory crepe for me.  This had oven roasted turkey breast, lettuce, kosher pickles, green peppers, avocado, havarti cheese, and mustard.  This was all wrapped up so nicely in a thin layered crepe.

I was pleasantly surprised at how such a crepe with simple ingredients could taste so good!  It was really fresh.  I remember the lettuce was crispy and Continue reading

Trying out Fatburger for the first time! [Defunct]

Fatburger in hand

Fatburger located at 10 Disera Dr, Unit #120 in Thornhill

Back in July, Andrew of Fatburger sent me a message inviting me to their store to try out their Fatburger combo in order for some social media exposure for their restaurant.  I didn’t get a chance to visit them until this past Friday.  I hadn’t tried Fatburger before and also never heard of them until recently.

Fatburger is located near Centre Street and Bathurst Street in Thornhill near the SmartCentres Thornhill plaza.  I am not in this area often; in fact, the last time I was here was actually for lunch across the street at Continue reading

L-eat Catering’s Cottage Grab and Go Box tasting

L-eat Catering food spread

L-eat Catering located at 3829 Bathurst St in Toronto

May 24, 2017:  Jojoinstameets set up a tasting with Paese Ristorante.  Originally, the plan was for a sit-down dinner at the restaurant but since they had already hosted a dinner tasting event previously with another group of Instagrammers, this second one was a bit different.  We were informed via e-mail that it would be an outdoor BBQ experience with a focus on “Cottage Grab and Go”  — “products that are specially prepared foods aimed to help the busy weekend cottager.  These foods are conveniently packaged and ready to be Continue reading

Sushi Bong in Thornhill

Sushi Bong Dynamite Roll

Sushi Bong located at 7181 Yonge St, Unit 27 in Thornhill

May 22, 2017:  For a small snack in the afternoon, we stopped by Sushi Bong in Thornhill.  This was my first time to Sushi Bong despite hearing all about their delicious sushi rolls.  Their original location is at Yonge and Finch.  This location in Thornhill is their second location.  It’s located where the World on Yonge Complex is (also where the original Love Me Sweet is).

When we walked in, we were the only dine-in customers.  They only have two tables for dine-in as the majority of their orders are all take-out orders.

We ordered the classic Dynamite Roll and an order of Gyoza.  I was really looking forward to trying their sushi rolls since I Continue reading

Tasting at Soi Thai Street Food [Defunct]

Soi Thai Street Food food spread

Soi Thai Street Food located at 651 College St in Toronto

May 18, 2017:  In May, I was invited to Soi Thai Street Food by @jojoinstameets for a tasting.  Soi Thai Street Food serves exactly its namesake — Thai street food.  Their restaurant was decorated in a way that it makes you feel like you are dining on the streets of Bangkok, Thailand.

I was running a little late as I arrived to the event just after 6 p.m.  As I got there, all of the food Instagrammers were already in the process of taking photographs of the food dishes that were being served.  As it was a hot day, the large window of their restaurant was Continue reading

The Best Mac n’ Cheese at The Gabardine!

The Gabardine Mac and Cheese

The Gabardine located at 372 Bay St in Toronto

May 15, 2017:  This was one of the best meals I’ve ever had!  The food was good from beginning to end with appetizer and finishing off with dessert.  I had heard a lot about The Gabardine and especially for their mac and cheese (and chicken pot pies as well).  Thus, Grace and I came here after work one day for dinner.

Grace had already arrived when I got there just before 6 p.m.  There were a lot of people there already and dining and drinking on a Monday evening.  I was pleasantly surprised!

We ordered the Korean Fried Cauliflower appetizer, and two mains: Mac n’ Cheese and the Chicken Pot Pie to Continue reading

The Decadent Drip Cake Cone from Eva’s Original Chimneys at Pusateri’s Saks Food Hall

Decadent Drip Cake Cones

Eva’s Original Chimneys at Pusateri’s Saks Food Hall located at 176 Yonge St in Toronto

Back in June, I had won a contest from @tastetoronto on Instagram for a free Decadent Drip Cake Cone from Eva’s Original Chimneys (at Pusateri’s Sak’s Food Hall in the Toronto Eaton Centre).  I had completely forgotten about this until Priscilla messaged me last week asking if I wanted to redeem the prize with her (she had coincidentally won the contest too).  It was the perfect opportunity for us to go there together to claim it!

Thus, we went yesterday (a day before the offer would close on August 31) to claim our Decadent Drip Cake Cones Continue reading

Éclairs from NÜGATEAU

Nügateau éclairs

Nügateau located on 717 Queen St W in Toronto

May 15, 2017:  Back in May, I had won a contest from @feedmetoronto on Instagram for a prize of six éclairs from Nügateau.  I had never had a proper éclair before (not even when I was in Paris, France! :O) so when I was picked to win this prize, I was very excited to try these decadent éclairs from Toronto’s only all-éclair bakery.

Nügateau was located on Queen Street West and I headed there after a half day job at work.  There was no one else in this bakery when I arrived.  They had a beautiful counter set up with Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Structure

 Sea stacks

Sea stacks as part of the natural habitat, Tobermory. August 2017

This past weekend, I was at the Fathom Five National Marine Park to see Flowerpot Island.  Among hiking to see the large and small flower pots (and within Bruce Peninsula National Park), you can see these layers of sea stacks — a geological landform made of a steep and often vertical column or columns of rock in the sea near a coast, formed by wave erosion — all over the park and island.

These natural structures are made Continue reading

Dinner at Diana’s Oyster Bar & Grill in Markham

Diana's Oyster Bar & Grill oysters

Diana’s Oyster Bar & Grill located at 7501 Woodbine Ave, Unit #3 in Markham

May 12, 2017:  For a late dinner, Ken and I went to Diana’s Oyster Bar & Grill in Markham.  I was craving some seafood paella and also wanted some seafood so Diana’s fit the bill of my cravings and was nearby too.  I was actually debating whether or not to blog about this dinner or not — I had dined at this location before last year when I was there for their Grand Opening party but since this was a dinner that I was experiencing myself that was not on a complimentary basis, I wanted to Continue reading
