Hot Taste Restaurant located at 324 Highway 7 East, Unit 1 in Richmond Hill

It was Friday night and my mom and I dined at this restaurant that we hadn’t been to before. Hot Taste Restaurant (糊塗樓) is located at the Ho-View Plaza on Highway 7 near Chalmers Road and is a Chinese Sichuan restaurant. Just as the name of the restaurant implies, they serve a lot of spicy and hot food! Just as the name of the restaurant implies, they serve a lot of spicy and hot food!

We arrived shortly after 5 p.m. and were one of the first customers to dine in. In fact, some of the kitchen staff were finishing up their dinner as we arrived. Continue reading →

Burgers at The Yellow Griffin Pub

After a really unsatisfying tasting event across the street, Priscilla and I were in search of some casual and low-key food. We had passed by The Yellow Griffin Pub when we were strolling through the Bloor West Village neighbourhood prior to the event and we were attracted by its appealing storefront as well as their “35 burgers (to choose from)” sign.

Grand Opening Sampling at Maison Fou Brasserie

Maison Fou Brasserie is a new French restaurant in the Bloor West Village across from Runnymede Station in the west end of Toronto. They invited me to their grand opening open house reception this past Thursday where they served samples of their food and drinks.

Trying out Patisserie 27!

Patisserie 27 located at 401 Jane St in Toronto

Patisserie 27 is a cute little Japanese-French based bakery located in the west end of Toronto at 401 Jane Street. After getting off at Jane Subway Station and taking one bus north for four stops, we arrived at the doorstep of Patisserie 27! It was a one unit store and you could see the entire area of the shop from the outside. There were just three tables and a couple of seats for you to dine in but for the most part, it seemed more of a take-away place. Continue reading →

There’s no other way to relax for me than to go to a spa and have an amazing and relaxing body massage. No matter what is happening, once I’m lying face down on that comfy bed with the warm and fluffy covers over me, I can totally relax. After Willa and I had some fun trying to catch pokemon at Hoi Sham Park at To Kwa Wan, we walked to find a spot for lunch. Bali Restaurant is a restaurant serving “Southeast Asian Cuisine” in Richmond Hill. It is located on 10 East Wilmot Street close to Leslie Street and Highway 7. Dinner at Jamie’s Italian Yorkdale

Jamie’s Italian Yorkdale restaurant opened sometime last year in December and I had heard lots about it seeing as it was chef Jamie Oliver’s very first restaurant in Canada and North America. Jamie Oliver opened it in conjunction with the chef, Francesco Venditti, of Bar Buca at Yorkdale Shopping Centre. Il Gelato di Carlotta (Niagara Falls)

We had some gelato at this relatively newly opened gelato shop at the Fallsview Resort in Niagara this past weekend! The gelato at Il Gelato di Carlotta proved to be one of the best gelatos I have ever had — it’s like visiting Italy for their gelato but not having to get on a plane. My mom and I got the split cup of two flavours to share: tiramisu and mango. The tiramisu tasted exactly like tiramisu cake and instead of using lady fingers, they used a spongy cake to soak the rum in so there were bits of rum-soaked cake in the actual gelato. Tino’s Pizza Café is located in Tai Po in Hong Kong. It is a nicely designed modern café and boasts authentic pizza and Italian dishes.
