Revisiting the Fish Ladder in Port Hope, Ontario
October 8, 2017: Three years ago, I visited Port Hope in Ontario to watch the annual fall salmon run. It was my first time watching these majestic creatures defy gravity and jump through rushing water and channels in order to give their future spawn the opportunity to grow up in calm, safer waters. That fateful day was immortalized in a blog post which you can view here.
It just so happened that after my visit to the Ganaraska Fish Ladder that I was contacted Continue reading

Pre-Set Group Dinner at Hong Shing Chinese Restaurant in Toronto
September 30, 2017:
After the conclusion of the CSRAO Annual Convention 2017, we set off and walked to Hong Shing Chinese Restaurant located in Chinatown, Toronto at Dundas and Centre Street (close to St. Patrick subway station) for dinner.
I’ve heard about Hong Shing Chinese Restaurant before and how they have good lobster dinners. For this reservation, Lisa had reserved about 20-30 people’s worth of seats and arranged a set group dinner for $35 a head. Hong Shing served standard Chinese food in a Continue reading

CSRAO Annual Conference 2017 ~ Captioning Bootcamp
I came back from my vacation just in time for the CSRAO Annual Conference this year — yes, it is that important and exciting to me! This year, I was especially excited because there was a captioning bootcamp session. Captioning has been a long-term goal for me ever since I started learning stenography way back in 2009. It’s an attractive career because you don’t have to bring anything home with you after hours Continue reading
Weekly Photo Challenge: Glow
On the second day of our trip to Zhangjaijie in Hunan, China in the late summer of 2017, we visited the Fenghuang County at night to see the beautiful ancient city and town. The entire street and river were donned with beautiful classic lights. Although everything was so beautiful and lit (and I won’t share those photos until I blog about it), this picture stands out in terms of the glow that was emitted from all the lights and light fixtures.
I took this photo of the lampposts as we walked back to the hotel alongside the Continue reading
Chefs Plate: Crispy Fish & Sauce Gribiche with Parmesan Green Beans and Baby Potatoes
October 16, 2017. Yay, Chefs Plate! I really adore this cooking service and am happy to be cooking with them once more!
This is my 17th plate from the meal subscription service (you can pause your plan at any time if you want) where you pick from a pre-made menu of a variety of dishes and they deliver the fresh ingredients to your door. Every week is a different menu. It’s very easy (for the most part) to cook these meals. Everything is pre-measured and packaged together for Continue reading

Tasting Korean Bingsu at Dear & Fro
October 15, 2017: Yesterday, I went to the newly opened Dear & Fro, a dessert spot at Midland and Finch in Scarborough that serves up the Korean inspired bingsu, a shaved ice dessert with freshly cut fruits, flavoured syrup, and ice cream. They just opened on October 10, 2017. Sweven Media provided me with two dessert vouchers for me to go on my Continue reading
