January 18, 2019:
We had a family reunion dinner at Ming Garden Restaurant (名苑) in Lok Fu. It’s a full Chinese restaurant inside of the Lok Fu shopping mall, which I believe may be new as I haven’t noticed it before. Next to the Chinese restaurant is a HK style cafe called Chin Yip Ramen that I have dined in for afternoon tea previously.
While we originally made a list of a la carte dishes we wanted to share, when we were ready to place the order, the server suggested to order a half size of one of the group meals instead since we had a total of 8 people. It made sense and was a good deal as well.
The food here was very tasty and portions were generous. We had roasted pork (soo good with crispy flaky skin and fat), double lobster with e fu noodles (yummy and such a big vat of noodles), vegetables, razor clams with vermicelli (my favourite but were a bit rough here), crispy chicken, and I think one other dish.
I was too busy chatting it up to really soak in the flavours of the food but it was delicious enough for me to be impressed. 🙂
