Japanese Raindrop Cake

Night It Up! located at 101 Town Centre Blvd in Markham

I finally got to try the infamous Japanese Raindrop Cake!  Social media is incredibly influential nowadays and it was through this medium that I first heard about this unique Japanese dessert.

Thus, once I found out that it was available in Toronto at one of the food festivals, I was eager to get my hands on one to try. 😀   Continue reading

Summerlicious 2016 Restaurant #1: Against the Grain Urban Tavern

Wild Mushroom Pizza

Against the Grain Urban Tavern located at 87 Laird Dr in Toronto

I used to be a giant fan of the LiciousTO series in Toronto — Summerlicious and Winterlicious every year since university — but ever since attending more and more exclusive foodie events in the past two years and going out to enjoy food quite often, I don’t feel as big of a need to run out and participate in the Licious TO restaurants.

With that said, I did attend one Summerlicious participating restaurant this year with a few friends for dinner ($28 prix fixe) and it was great! 🙂   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Details

Aged Beef Ribeye, Bone Marrow, Watercress, Shallots

Alo Restaurant, Toronto. April 2016

One of the fanciest restaurants I’ve been to thus far was Alo.  This French-Canadian restaurant only serves a tasting menu and is one of the top ranked restaurants in Toronto.  It is no surprise then that its food is not only delicious but every detail in the meal is set to perfection.   Continue reading

First Time at Uncle Tetsu’s Japanese Cheesecake!

Uncle Tetsu’s Japanese Cheesecake

Uncle Tetsu’s Japanese Cheesecake located at 598 Bay St in Toronto

After a nice olive oil tasting event and quick stop at Tsujiri, Betty and I walked over to Uncle Tetsu’s Japanese Cheesecake to see how the line-up fared.  Ever since Uncle Tetsu opened in last year in March, I had been hearing lots about this Japanese cheesecake shop and how there are always, continuously, constantly, and regular long line-ups in which to buy their infamous Japanese cheesecakes.   Continue reading
