What a pleasure it was to dine among the great food bloggers of Toronto this past Tuesday evening!  Victoria, the Marketing Manager of Canyon Creek, contacted me at the end of January to invite me to their exclusive blogger event called “The Chef’s Table”.  It’s an event that is usually run for their Canyon Club members, a personalized loyalty program.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: State of Mind

Fish Legend, Markham. February 2016

I went to a great Sichuan Chinese restaurant today and it’s clear that whenever I go to a great restaurant and marvel at the food, there’s no other feeling but joy and gratefulness.  This was a new restaurant, a new dish, and thus a new experience.  Whenever I have one of these foodie moments, I am so elated and excited that I take lots of pictures and can’t wait to dive in and eat the food.  The state of mind is pure bliss and contentment. 😀   Continue reading

Flat Iron Steak with Collard Greens and Cheddar Polenta

Happiness is seeing a delivery of Chef’s Plate arrive at your door.  I choose for the package to be left outside my door when it’s time for my delivery to arrive from this meal-delivery company.  This is now my third shipment of Chef’s Plate and I couldn’t be happier to cook another meal from them.  They are a convenient, fast, fresh, delicious meal service that uses recipes from chefs and delivers the pre-portioned and fresh groceries Continue reading

A day in the life… kind of, or weekend ;)

I had a really great relaxing weekend this week.  It’s been a while.  Let your hair down and live life slowed down just a little. 🙂

Woke up at 8:10 a.m. on the Saturday bright and early after a good night’s rest.  Yay!  Got ready, packed a bit for our day trip.   Continue reading

Chef’s Plate: Salvadorian Cheese Stuffed Pupusas

Salvadorian Cheese Stuffed Pupusas with Homemade Refried Beans and Radish Salad

I absolutely love cooking with Chef’s Plate because it is so easy and fun to make the dishes!  For this next plate that I received from Chef’s Plate, I chose Salvadorian Cheese Stuffed Pupusas with homemade refried beans and radish salad.  I was so excited to try this because I’ve had pupusas before (recently for the first time) and was highly intrigued to find out how I could make these myself at home to eat!   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Seasons

Cozumel, Mexico. February 2016

Currently, the season in Toronto is winter, but last week, we experienced some summer weather when we were vacationing on a cruise ship.  This photo was taken when we were docked at Cozumel, Mexico.
The sea was fairly calm and there wasn’t much happening.  After a few seconds, there was a motorboat that came by and made the waves ripple.  Currently, this is what’s happening in my season of life.  There’s a wide expanse of opportunity and lots to see beyond the ocean, but right now I’m calm and not much action is being taken.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Life Imitates Art

Purina PawsWay, Toronto. July 2011

This photo is cute if I do say so myself. 😛  This is one of the common things that we do as tourists when we see a sculpture and pose next to it by imitating what it is doing.
You do this when you see something new that you don’t usually see… like when you’re travelling!  Bonus points goes to those who can really copy the sculpture to make it an even better looking picture.   Continue reading

Porchetta & Co.

Porchetta & Co. located at 545 King West in Toronto

After our somewhat dissatisfying first “dinner” at Beast Restaurant, we skirted around various restaurants on a Friday night to see what else we could try.  We ultimately ended up at Porchetta & Co. which was one of the restaurants not entirely packed on a Friday night in the King and Bathurst area in Toronto.   Continue reading
