For Jessica’s birthday, we went to Zakkushi, which is an authentic Japanese izakaya in Cabbagetown (you can get there easily on the College streetcar going east). It’s a really nicely decorated restaurant that is cozy and separated by wooden panels (at least the area that we were seated at). All of the staff spoke Japanese and our server was so warm and friendly throughout our entire stay there. Continue reading

October 2014: First of all, I’m not sure who named this restaurant or why this restaurant is even named “Ho Garden” considering that we are in a country where English is one of the two official languages. I would understand if we were in Hong Kong or Asia where the translation of the names from one language doesn’t exactly correlate well, but this is just funny. Ho Garden is really just a typical HK-style Chinese restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner sets. Continue reading
Located at 6380 Fallsview Blvd in Niagara Falls
When you think of Club 21, you really think that there is a club here! However, Club 21 is simply the name of a restaurant that resides inside the Fallsview Casino at the famed Niagara Falls. As such, no minors are allowed into this fine establishment. When we arrived a little after 5 p.m., there were only around 2 tables dining. We were very early and it was great since we were able to get a table in the room overlooking the falls. The three “walls” were all made of glass so we were able to overlook the trees and the beautiful falls as well. It was a gorgeous restaurant to dine in.

After discovering that One2Snack was closed on a Wednesday, my mom and I ventured over to Gourmet Malaysia. This is a restaurant that I’ve heard has good and authentic Malaysian food so I was very excited to try this out! 😀 Continue reading

Serissa is a bubble tea and Taiwanese cafe hidden away in the plaza where Gal’s Sushi and Green Grotto is at Highway 7 and Warden. I had seen friends post pictures of food and drinks Serissa but I had never seen the restaurant or visited it. Jason and I had drinks here and really enjoyed what a cozy and small place it was.

Another new Chinese restaurant has popped up in Scarborough (on the border to Markham)! We are so lucky here in Toronto that there are so many restaurants in town that you can never run out of new places to try. Imagine if I lived in a small town where the population was 1,000 instead of 2.5 million, this blog would have to take itself to another foodie city in order to keep the posts coming. Back in 2012, my friend Marilyn had the genius idea to celebrate her birthday over a scene most famous in Asian countries like Thailand and Taiwan and even the Disney movie, Tangled. We were in Milne Park and lit up sky lanterns that had our wishes written on it before we let it go into the night sky. Continue reading
