Kinton Ramen

Located at 51 Baldwin Street in Toronto

The first time I went to Kinton Ramen was one year ago in the summertime.  I remember that it was a Friday night, and despite the claims that you usually have to wait up to 30 minutes for a table, my friend and I were seated within 2 minutes of walking in.   Continue reading

CNE 2013 — Crazy food edition

Last night I attended the Canadian National Exhibition, CNE for short, with 4 other friends in search for the weirdest and wackiest food creations. CNE is an annual end-of-summer fair that is half carnival and half food fest. Actually, it’s more like an exhibition grounds for your typical carnival rides and games, a petting zoo, arts and crafts shows, various performances, and more. Continue reading

Moving day!

Or at least half moving day. Getting rid of/moving out more than half the furniture in our house. Around 2 weeks to go before absolutely everything is moved out of our house. I’m superrrrrrr excited. Can’t wait until everything is done !

Tako Sushi (teppanyaki version)

Teppanyaki!
Located at 30 Bristol Rd E, unit #1 in Mississauga

I tried teppanyaki for the first time yesterday!  It was kind of unexpected since my friend brought me there for lunch after some errands.  I wasn’t complaining since I’ve always wanted to try this type of food.  It’s basically a Japanese cuisine where you and your party sit in front of the grill and a chef will flame/grill all of your food right in front of you.  It’s a show and a meal!   Continue reading

DiSCOVER. Trip to China. Day 3. July 18, 2013.

Walking into the first building at Peking University

Second day of trip, or technically the third one as the first and second are considered one day due to the flight.

We visited Peking University today! Chantel, Jesica, and I did our presentation to the students there. I was surprised with how good their English was! Continue reading

Short thoughts on NCRA Convention 2013

It’s 2 a.m. right now and there are two more seminars ‘tomorrow’ morning left on Sunday before the Convention is officially done. So far, I’ve had some drastic changes regarding my steno career path in the last 2 days. Continue reading

NOVA scienceNOW: Can I eat that?

The foodie and nerd in me popped its head out during the 13-hour flight to China with the DiSCOVER clan. Instead of watching a blockbuster movie provided during the in-flight service, I opted to watch a documentary instead. I love documentaries :D. This is one was, naturally, all about food. Haha. It’s a really neat production about how humans have evolved to eat cooked food (we’re the only animals to do so) — it’s because we can then digest them faster. The expert said that if food wasn’t cooked, humans would spend 5 hours each day just on chewing! Lol. Continue reading

Summerlicious 2013 Restaurant #5: Bymark

I remember the very first time I went to a Summerlicious/Winterlicious restaurant when I was still a university student and combing through the menus to find the restaurants that offered prix fixe menus at the lowest end of the price ranges — either $15 for lunch or $25 for dinner.  I was on a student budget and didn’t want to spend that much money on food.  Plus, a $15 three-course lunch at a supposedly fine dining restaurant can be really worth it if you go to the right ones!  Continue reading
