Weekly Photo Challenge: Awakening

 avocado seed sprouting roots

Markham, Ontario. January 2018

When my avocado seed finally starts to awaken after a cold winter.

Although to be honest, I’m still waiting for full spring temperatures to “bloom” (get it?).  It’s been a very cloudy and grey start of spring (not complaining though because I like cloudy skies).  It won’t be until there is more sunlight streaming in and warm waves heating up these babies that they’ll fully start to sprout better.  But at least they’re awake now and just waiting.  Just me. 😀   Continue reading

Menya Fuji Japanese Ramen [Defunct]

Menya Fuji menu cover

Menya Fuji located at 3 Finch Ave E in North York

March 4, 2018:

I finally got to try Menya Fuji!  It’s a ramen house that is located right at the corner of Finch and Yonge, which makes it so easy and convenient for any subway goer to stop by to check it out.  I was also influenced by several IGers who posted photos of the ramen from Menya Fuji to come here — social media influence works.  :] Continue reading

Day 3 in Yellowknife 2018: Dog sledding, Bullock’s Bistro, Stuck in the snow

 Dog sledding in Yellowknife

Second time dog sledding!

February 24, 2018:  On the third day of our trip in Yellowknife, the first item on the itinerary was dog sledding!  This was an optional activity of the tour and cost $75 per person.  I was very excited to do it despite already having experienced dog sledding for the first time in Quebec only a weekend ago. 😀  I was excited to experience real dog sledding in the north of Canada!  Continue reading

Amazing dinner combo at Top Gourmet of China

Top Gourmet of China storefront

Top Gourmet of China located at 180 Steeles Ave W in Thornhill

March 30, 2018:  We had dinner here at Top Gourmet of China and it’s a hidden gem for Chinese food!  For only $88, you can receive 11 dishes of which one is a soup and one is dessert!  What is a huge steal of a deal.  The dinner set includes three major draws too: twin lobsters, Peking duck, and steamed fish.  Where do you even find such a deal these days?!  I don’t think such a good deal exists Continue reading

Dim Sum at 米芝蓮 My Wonderful Kitchen

My Wonderful Kitchen dim sum

My Wonderful Kitchen located at 350 Highway 7 East, Unit #101 in Richmond Hill

March 3 and 30, 2018:  I’ve been to My Wonderful Kitchen before it was rebranded and renamed (only the Chinese name is new (米芝蓮); the English name of the restaurant remains the same).  My relatives came here for dim sum last month and really enjoyed it, so much so that they came here twice in a row.  On that visit, my mom also brought me back some leftovers Continue reading

Mar. 29, 2018:  The four of us went to check out the Final Destination escape room game at Roundabout Canada!  The concept of being trapped in a real airplane for the setting of an escape room game sounded so intriguing and fun!

Roundabout Canada is located in downtown Toronto on Yonge Street near Dundas Square.  It’s on the second floor where Continue reading

Mar. 24, 2018:  This is another restaurant that I knew about through Instagram.  It’s called The Guksu and Noodle and serves Korean hot and cold noodles and rice dishes.

We arrived at 7:30 p.m. on a Saturday and it was moderately full of customers.  There were a lot more Cantonese guests here than I anticipated. Continue reading
