So funny that I found myself here again so soon. There are so many Congee Queen‘s all across the GTA now and it doesn’t come as a surprise because of how delicious the Chinese food is and how affordable it is. The menu also offers a variety of rice, noodle, soup, congee, and BBQ items.
On this day, on a Wednesday afternoon, we were here having lunch. They had a Lunch Set Meal which we took advantage from. We chose the Curry Pad Thai with Shrimp & Chicken and also chose the Empress Fried Rice (eel, fish roe, and crab meat) — one of my favourites because it’s so delicious!
The Empress Fried Rice at this location sure didn’t disappoint. The rice was extremely soft and there was a lot of eel embedded into the fried rice. It was so good, especially when it arrived hot at the table! ^_^
The Lunch Set Menu also included a minced beef with egg white thick soup and vegetable spring roll. The little bowl of minced beef with egg white actually tasted really good since it was so smooth and slurp-y! It was flavoured just right. The vegetable spring roll was pretty good as well.

Curry Pad Thai with Shrimp & Chicken. $10.75

The Curry Pad Thai with Shrimp & Chicken isn’t authentic Thai food so don’t be too excited about this dish if you want to try it. The Pad Thai wasn’t your typical red color but actually made with curry. Even the curry wasn’t authentic curry though. It was a little watered down and I didn’t really like the texture of the noodles too much. This dish was just so-so.
There were a lot of people dining here at this time of the day which I was surprised about. It’s still another location of Congee Queen so even though I liked one dish and didn’t like the other, it’s still a solid establishment to visit for good Chinese food.
That..? Is a LOT of rice :O
Yeah! No wonder we couldn’t finish it lol. Very good portion 🙂
Enough for two leftovers for me lol 😀 nice though!
