Weekly Photo Challenge: Ephemeral

Busan National Geopark of Korea, November 2014

Ephemeral is defined as something that lasts a very short time.  A good example of that to me is the peak of the beautiful autumn leaves on deciduous trees that change colour from lush green to shades of orange, red, yellow, and brown.  Depending on the tree type and the proximity of the branches, the view can be absolutely stunning.   Continue reading

Day 6 Breakfast of West Caribbean Cruise 2015

Fancy breakfast at the Gold Pearl

I’m really milking these cruise blog posts by also blogging about the breakfast that I had at the Gold Pearl Restaurant on Carnival Splendor.  We — or I should say “I” — only had one opportunity to eat here for breakfast in the morning out of all the days as we usually went straight to the buffet area for food because it was faster and we wanted to eat together as a team — especially at what we liked to call “9 and a half”.   Continue reading

Day 5 Dinner of West Caribbean Cruise 2015

Gold Pearl Restaurant dining room — lower level

Day 5 of the dinner cruise was a bit lame because I literally sat by myself to eat.  My dinner partner left me for probably some sleep and my “friends” to my left weren’t considerate enough to invite me over to sit or have someone sit with me so it wouldn’t appear so sad that I was dining alone.  Eating by myself on a cruise ship during dinner was not one of my plans.   Continue reading

Snorkeling in Mahogany Bay, Honduras‏ ~ West Caribbean Cruise 2015

First time in Honduras!

Who would have known that I’d be participating in mini excursions every day that we dock at a new country?  I feel very fortunate to get to do this and also travel with so many like-minded individuals too.

Upon arriving in Mahogany Bay, Roatan, we were able to negotiate a good deal for the 20+ of us to ride round-trip to West Bay for just USD $10.   Continue reading

Breakfast at Ikea Restaurant!

Located at 15 Provost Drive in Toronto

It’s funny that I’ve been to Ikea many times and have tried their frozen yogurt and cinnamon rolls and delicious salmon and broccoli cakes but have yet to take advantage of their $1 breakfasts.  Juliana, Marwan, and I had breakfast here on a Sunday morning.   Continue reading

Thai Fay Cuisine

Located at 115 York Blvd., Unit 8 in Richmond Hill

I was genuinely shocked at how delicious this restaurant turned out to be.  I was very impressed with every single dish of food that arrived at our table.  That’s actually pretty rare for any restaurant!  Kudos to you, Thai Fay Cuisine! 🙂

I met up with Alice for some catch-up time at this restaurant recently.  Although the restaurant was extremely empty on a Saturday night, this meant that the server was able to come to our table and attend to us very quickly.  I liked how she kept an eye on our food and eating progress throughout the night so that she was able to serve us our mains and desserts at the right times.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Fresh

Jia Men, China. March 2013

This week’s theme of “fresh” at first made me want to choose picture of flowers that I’ve taken over the years.  However, that was a little boring, even to myself — no offense to those who choose to put up flowers for this week’s theme.  Instead, I came across this photo of fresh jackfruit that was being cut up and being sold at a market while I was in Jia Men, China one year.   Continue reading

Wanda’s Belgian Waffles (Yonge/Elm St.)

Located at 361 Yonge St in Toronto

After dinner with Jenn and having a lovely catch-up, I met up with Sze Chieh to also have a long-awaited catch up!  I haven’t seen this girl in years and it was amazing to see her in person again.  I loved the instant rapport and connection we had and our conversation flowed so well!  I love having that immediate connection with friends! 🙂

I’ve been to Wanda’s Belgian Waffles before — twice actually!   Continue reading

Scaddabush Italian Kitchen & Bar

Located at 382 Yonge St Unit #7 in Toronto

Jennifer and I had a lovely chat here at Scaddabush Italian Kitchen & Bar over dinner.  For a Friday night at 6 p.m., there sure were a lot of people already!  The restaurant was dimly lighted and very packed.  Scaddabush has two locations and we were at the Yonge street location; very close to Dundas Square and College Subway Station.   Continue reading
