Bombay Bhel (Thornhill location)

Located at 230 Commerce Valley Dr E in Thornhill

I love trying out recommendations from friends!  How do you know where to go if your friends, who likely have the same taste as you, don’t share with you great restaurants and food?  This is what happened.  TK casually mentioned one time after our lunch and dessert at Ten Ren’s and Duo that Bombay Bhel has pretty good lunch sets.  Since then, I’d locked it in the back of my mind and wanted to try this place.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Motion

Millennium Hotels and Resorts – Copthorne, New Zealand. April 2015

On the third night of our travels in New Zealand, we had a performance after our dinner buffet right at the hotel where we were staying at.  On the lower level, there was a pool that also doubled as a stage and performance area.  The Māori Warriors were performing a war dance/show for us that night.   Continue reading

Folco’s Ristorante

Folco's Ristorante storefront

Folco’s Ristorante located at 42 Main St Markham N in Markham

The other night, Angel and I had our long-awaited catch-up dinner at Folco’s Ristorante, an Italian restaurant I’ve always wanted to visit.  This restaurant has shown up in the restaurant searches when searching in the Main Street Markham area.  The restaurant occupies a building that resembles an old house or resident on Main Street (partly why this area of town is called Main Street — because it resembles a little village).   Continue reading

Day 1 in Beijing 2015: Arrival & Noodles

Noodles in Beijing!

Monday, March 23, 2015.

Wheeee!!!  So exciting!!  I’m in Beijing again 😀 :D.  Last time I was in Beijing was two years ago in the summer as part of the awesome DiSCOVER 2013 Program that was subsidized by the Mon Sheong group.  We travelled as a group of 20 young individuals for two weeks to China and visited four cities (read the whole day-by-by blog posts here).   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Early Bird

West Caribbean Cruise.  April 2014

For this photo, we really did specifically get up early at 5 or 6 a.m. in the morning on our vacation so that we could see and get this shot.  Early morning sunshine in the West Caribbean!  Woohoo!  The sun was a big dan wong (egg yolk) in the sky with beautiful colours.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Afloat

Hong Kong Macau Ferry, Tsim Sha Tsui. April 2015

How to keep afloat this week:  Balance life with work and pleasure, go on vacations around the world to stay humble and alert, communicate with both experienced and the still learning to have a better perspective of the world.  Or, combine it all by going on a short day trip through the Pearl River to Macau from Hong Kong! 😉   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Blur

Queenstown, New Zealand. April 2015

Last week’s photo challenge was going to be of this picture, but then I thought better of it and decided to use this one instead.  Since my arrival in HK nearly three weeks ago, I’ve been travelling around HK, to New Zealand, Macau, and now back in HK.  All of life goes so fast and it’s hard to believe that I will soon be going home next week.   Continue reading

K & K Cafe Restaurant [Defunct]

[Update July 2, 2018:  I am so sad that this HK style cafe has closed. 😦  It’s replaced by a vegetarian hot pot restaurant.]

Located at 420 Hwy 7 in Richmond Hill

I’ve said this many times, but simple is best!  Who knew that this little HK-style cafe embedded in the middle of the plaza where Omei and McDonald’s is would be so delicious!?

This restaurant, K&K Cafe Restaurant, didn’t even have a listing on urbanspoon until I posted it up and is definitely a restaurant that you would underestimate.   Continue reading

Congee Queen (Yonge & Steeles)

Located at 6464 Yonge St in Toronto

After our Super Coring (now that they only occur every two weeks, it feels even more like a family reunion to dine with each other), we headed to Congee Queen at Centerpoint Mall for some good grub.  Congee Queen is not located directly inside of the mall but at the outside so you can clearly see it if you are looking for parking.   Continue reading
