Day 2 of March detox

Beets!

Hello Day 2 of my very first detox!!

Last night, without any carbs or protein in my body and only fruits and veggies and water, I started getting a headache and feeling a little light-headed.  It’s actually a normal detox reaction and was due to the lack of blood sugar in my system (the headache should clear up by the second or third day).   Continue reading

Day 1 of Detox!

I’ve never done a detox program before.  As part of the one-year anniversary of my blog and becoming a weight fat loss coach recently, I decided that this would be the perfect way to celebrate a year’s milestones on this primarily foodie blog and to launch off a healthy lifestyle.  It’s almost like, hey, my food blog has reached 1 year old now?   Continue reading

Lunch at Il Fornello

Located at 8851 Yonge St in Richmond Hill

I went to Il Fornello for a late lunch the other day.  I’ve been to the King Street location of Il Fornello before and quite enjoyed my Summerlicious dinner in 2010, so I knew the Italian food, especially with it being a chain restaurant, would be up to par in terms of food quality and service.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflections

McRae Point Provincial Park, Ontario. July 2012

Wow!  How appropriate is this week’s photo challenge for me.  Yesterday, March 21, marked the one-year anniversary of my blog.  There’s definitely been a slew of reflections on the past year considering how much I’ve been blogging my life adventures through words and pictures through these 365 days.

For this week’s challenge, I present a picture that shows me “reflecting” and also shows the reflection of the water.   Continue reading

Sakura Sushi

This Caterpillar Roll that actually looks like a caterpillar!
Located at 7010 Warden Avenue in Markham

I have to say that I had fairly high expectations for this sushi restaurant.  I read brief reviews that this was a “hole in the wall” and somewhere that you would return again and again to enjoy good sushi.  My friend Jeremy and I met up to have some dinner and catch up at Sakura Sushi.  It’s located at the Warden and Steeles plaza near the Green Grotto Tea Room and T & T Supermarket in Markham.   Continue reading

Dinner at Spring Villa Chinese Cuisine

Located at 7301 Woodbine Ave in Markham

With so many Chinese restaurants all around the Markham, Scarborough, and Richmond Hill area, how do you know which one to dine at?  Is there a secret formula or a method to figure out how to spend your hard-earned cash at the right place?  Unfortunately, there isn’t such a way to figure out which restaurant’s cooking will fit your unique taste buds, so the only solution it to go try ALL of them until you find one that leaves a memorable taste in your mouth!  *insert try ALL the restaurants meme here*   Continue reading
