New Location of Green Grotto Tea Room

Located at 7040 Warden Ave in Markham

Did you know that the popular Green Grotto Tea Room (Markham branch) recently shifted locations and took over the Wendy’s restaurant in the Steeles and Warden area?  It’s not longer in the snug little spot right next to Keung’s Delight, but located right near the main intersection.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Inside

Sai Kung, Hong Kong.  July 2008

The crabs are inside and trying to get outside.  I think that’s simple enough for this week’s entry. 😉

If you are stuck inside at a boring job or a dead spot in life, get outside!!  Continue reading

Live life fully

Yesterday, I got the shock of my life when my mom told me that one of her friends suddenly passed away.

My mom’s friend was in her 50s.  She was in her living room at home playing with her granddaughter.  After that, she went upstairs to take a shower and when she came downstairs, she started complaining that her head hurt a LOT.   Continue reading

Chinese Dumpling House at Commerce Gate Hwy 7

Chinese Dumpling House located at 505 Highway 7 East, unit 80-90 in Markham

I’ve been on the search for Sichaun food lately (as some of you can already tell in my recent blog posts), so I voyaged to the same plaza where I had the memorable Sichuan meal and tried the restaurant next door.  Despite calling themselves a “dumpling house”, they base almost all of their dishes on Sichuan food as well.   Continue reading

Bashu Sichuan Cuisine (or Ba Shu Ren Jia)

Located at 4771 Steeles Ave E in Scarborough

Ah, Sichuan cuisine.  Ever since I recently rekindled my love with this southwestern Chinese cuisine at Shannxi Restaurant, I’ve been eyeing various restaurants to eat Sichuan food at.  Carol and I considered various restaurants online before deciding on Bashu Sichuan Cuisine (previously named Ba Shu Ren Jia but then was probably renamed due to the English name being easier to pronounce and recall).   Continue reading

Lamesa Filipino Kitchen

Located at 669 Queen St W in Toronto

This was my second visit to Lamesa Filipino Kitchen.  I distinctly remember the first time I visited this restaurant with my friends back in university.  We had chosen their prix fixe menu and for some reason thought it was a good idea to share the prix fixe (for one person) menu between all 6 of us.  I really wasn’t sure what we were thinking, but we all got a moderate taste (literally) of what the food was like.   Continue reading

Japas Japanese Tapas & Oyster Bar

Located in Koreantown at 692 Bloor St W in Toronto

Japas Japanese Tapas & Oyster Bar had a very good chance of being an amazing restaurant.  I mean, they serve Japanese tapas (small dishes of food to share) and oysters!  What more can you ask for?  However, the four of us had a very sour experience here at this restaurant.  Continue reading to understand why.

The night was young as we were seated at 7:30 p.m. and began poring over the menus, feeling excited and hungry, about the many choices of tapas and $1 Tuesday oysters.   Continue reading

Lambie Bubble Tea [Defunct]

Papaya milk

Lambie Bubble Tea is one of the ubiquitous restaurants along the First Markham Place outdoor mall strip.  There’s so many restaurants that reside on the perimeter that I still don’t know what exact restaurants and cuisines are available — I haven’t tried everything yet!   Continue reading
