New York in Spring 2017 Day 3: Broadway, Best Cheesecake, Carlo’s Bakery

 Times Square, New York

Day 3 of our New York trip!

April 29, 2017:  Day 3 of our New York trip began with a long-awaited desire to watch a musical on Broadway!  We hopped on the subway in the early morning around 9:30 and dashed towards Times Square where the home of Broadway was.  Seeing Times Square and the surrounding big box stores, lights, and billboards was a surreal moment after having only seen it in movies or photos before.  It was every bit as exciting as I imagined it to be.

Two friends had told me about the discounted musical tickets available at TKTS.  This ticket merchant sold heavily Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Textures

 mossy shelves

Lake Erie, Ontario. July 2012

Textures: I remember putting my feet through these soft and wavy shelves of moss when I went camping for the first time in July 2012.  It was a group camping trip with the Mon Sheong Youth Group at Rock Point Provincial Park & Lake Erie.  It was so hot that day when we got to the campsite that all activities were postponed and everyone just went to the beach to cool off.  I enjoyed walking through these Continue reading

New York in Spring 2017 Day 2: Shake Shack Burgers, Greenwich, Rice to Riches

Day 2 NYC collage

Day 2 in New York City!

April 28, 2017:  Day 2 in New York!

After sleeping in thoroughly after a delayed flight from coming in from Toronto, we woke up ready to find breakfast and begin our foodie trip.  In preparing for our trip, we looked at YouTube videos to find top food lists of New York and consulted friends to find coveted spots to eat in the Big Apple.  It was a beautiful spring day and good enough for shorts and sundresses.

We consulted the map (handy wifi and Google Maps) and searched Eataly out as the first spot of the day.  My friend Betty had recommended it to me as a spot to visit and since it was around the area and on route to Continue reading

New York in Spring 2017 Day 1: Take off!

 Dinner selfie

Dinner at the airport before flying!

This blog post comes nearly three months after we actually went to New York in April of 2017.  Oops!  With transcripts and work and being tired for two weeks after the trip and letting everything pile up, I had created another backlog for myself and thus never got around to blogging about this trip that we had.  But no more!  It’s going to be blogged this week before we head to another foodie city. 😀

This blog post covers our trip to New York starting on April 27, 2017!

I’ll begin with our dinner and Continue reading

Playing an Escape Game at Trapped in Markham!

Trapped Markham storefront

Trapped located at 3130 Highway 7 East in Markham

Even though Trapped is located so close to me, this was my first time going there to play an escape game.  We were looking for an escape game that we hadn’t been to yet and this one was on my radar since I had heard about it through social media.  I looked up the escape room themes that they had on their website and it appeared that the Death Note room and another one seemed the most fitting for us since we had four people (Death Note was for 2 to 6 people).  Their website said that if you booked online ahead time, we would save on the cost (its regular price was $28 and after booking it online, it was just Continue reading

Dinner at Hong Far Hong Kong Cafe

I have no photos for this restaurant. 😀  For a simple celebratory dinner, we went to Hong Far Hong Kong Cafe located inside the Richlane Mall at Leslie and 16th Avenue in Richmond Hill last night.  The food was Cantonese style with set menus for dinner and a la carte options too.  We had a set menu which consisted of eggplant and oysters in a hot pot, steamed fish, stir fried lobster, tofu with gluten, Continue reading

Mini Golf at Timber Creek Golf

Timber Creek Golf mini putt

Timber Creek Golf located at 12772 Ninth Line in Stouffville

This wasn’t my first time mini golfing but it deserves a blog post because it was just so much fun at Timber Creek Golf yesterday!  Timber Creek Golf is located in Stouffville at Ninth Line and Main Street area.  It’s a huge golf course area with mini putt, a golf range, batting cage, inflatable bouncer for kids, and a cafe/ice cream parlour selling Kawartha ice cream.

We came here on a busy and very sunny and hot Saturday afternoon.  The parking lot was so packed that cars took up even their grassy lawn.  There were two mini golf putting courses, the  Continue reading

Approximately a month ago — two months — I went to a media tasting at Mi’hito Sushi Laboratory (on June 2, 2017).  (Yes, I am finally done my current backlog and can go back to blogging about the restaurants I went to in April/May/June again to catch up!! :D)

This media tasting was hosted by @DKLoEvents and was actually the second event of his that I had ever gone to.  I was really thrilled with this event because everything was organized extremely well and the event ran smoothly from beginning with end with lots of delicious food and generous portions for Continue reading

Japanese Sushi at Nichiban Sushi 4 U

Nichiban Sushi 4 U sushi

Nichiban Sushi 4 U located at 3517 Kennedy Road Unit 3 in Scarborough

For an early dinner/continuation of lunch, we went to Nichiban Sushi 4 U for Japanese sushi.  I had been recommended to try this place twice; once by my friend Viv and then by another food blogger on Instagram.  Thus, I was curious to check this place out.

Nichiban Sushi 4 U is located on the corner of Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue behind the Petro gas station.  Those of you who know where Fat Ninja Bite is (a must-try, by the way!), you will find this gem of a Japanese restaurant behind the restaurant.  Their parking lot is tiny but there are Continue reading
