This past Sunday, I was invited by Darren of @DKLoEvents to the VIP Card launch party from CraveThe6ix.  CraveThe6ix is an Instagram account that features food photos from Instagram users showcasing food from all over Toronto.  They have officially launched a discount card program with many of Toronto’s top and most popular restaurants giving you discounts or special promotions when sign up for the card (there is a physical card that you can show or you can show a mobile version).  The card is free to obtain.  You can get it by visiting their website and completing a quick sign-up.

As part of the launch party, we were Continue reading

Japanese Sushi at Nichiban Sushi 4 U

Nichiban Sushi 4 U sushi

Nichiban Sushi 4 U located at 3517 Kennedy Road Unit 3 in Scarborough

For an early dinner/continuation of lunch, we went to Nichiban Sushi 4 U for Japanese sushi.  I had been recommended to try this place twice; once by my friend Viv and then by another food blogger on Instagram.  Thus, I was curious to check this place out.

Nichiban Sushi 4 U is located on the corner of Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue behind the Petro gas station.  Those of you who know where Fat Ninja Bite is (a must-try, by the way!), you will find this gem of a Japanese restaurant behind the restaurant.  Their parking lot is tiny but there are Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Satisfaction

 devoured seafood

The Captain’s Boil, Newmarket. January 2017

There’s nothing that satisfies me more than a good meal.  I’m talking about the REALLY good meals where the taste of food is delicious and the portion is substantial and you are left completely satisfied and content.  The price of the meal might not matter but the fact that all the details and ingredients tied together and showed complete craftsmanship and skills from the chef is what matters.  It just so happens that I had a really satisfying and contentful meal last weekend.  For a better photo of “satisfaction” though, I decided Continue reading

Seven-Course Tasting Menu at Canis Restaurant

Canis Restaurant food

Canis Restaurant located at 746 Queen St W in Toronto

I had a wonderful tasting menu at a relatively new restaurant called Canis Restaurant last week to kick off the weekend! 😀  I’m so glad that my foodie friends invited me to try this with them as I probably wouldn’t have gone here any time soon by myself.

Canis Restaurant is located on Queen Street West in downtown Toronto close to Trinity Bellwoods Park.  They only have a tasting menu or prix fixe menu for you to choose from.  Their tasting menu changes seasonally as that is the main focus of their Continue reading

Tasting the New Summer Items at the Yonge & Eglinton location of Paramount Fine Foods

Paramount Fine Foods poutine

Paramount Fine Foods located at 2311 Yonge St in Toronto

Thanks to Liquid Communications, I was once more invited to Paramount Fine Foods to partake in a private tasting for myself and a guest to try out their food and help them promote their menu.  This time, the goal of the tasting was to promote their new summer items.  The tasting was held at their Yonge and Eglinton location, one of many Paramount Fine Foods locations all across the GTA.

(Previous tastings blogged here at their Don Mills location and also blogged here at their Bay and Bloor location.)

Clarissa and I entered the restaurant just after 5:30 p.m. where we were led to the upstairs Continue reading

Summerlicious 2017 Restaurant: Liberty Commons at Big Rock Brewery

Liberty Commons at Big Rock Brewery smoke plate

Liberty Commons at Big Rock Brewery located at 42 Liberty St in Toronto

The only Summerlicious restaurant I participated in this year was Liberty Commons at Big Rock Brewery.  This was such a uncommon practice for me; I used to attend the licious restaurants religiously and would go to more than one restaurant in a season.  This year, I didn’t actively plan any Summerlicious events because I had been going out so often already for tastings and other meals.  Also, not all licious restaurants actually live up to the event — there are a handful of times where I’d rather visit the restaurant as a standalone to see how their usual meals fare Continue reading

Tasting Dinner at Mabu Generation

Mabu Generation food

Mabu Generation located at 3235 Hwy 7 #23-26 in Markham

This past Tuesday, I was invited to Mabu Generation to a tasting event organized by DKLoEvents.  I had been to Mabu Generation for dinner with my friend previously (that blog post is available here).  From that visit, I didn’t have the fondest impression of the restaurant because I thought that while their menu selection was large and varied, the quality of the food was a little lacking.  I did say that I wanted to return though because I wanted to try their dessert items and other dishes too — their menu was so large that there was Continue reading

Italian Dinner at PAESE Ristorante

PAESE Ristorante pizza

PAESE Ristorante located at 3827 Bathurst Street in Toronto

After our escape game at Casa Loma, Priscilla and I went to PAESE Ristorante for dinner!  I had won a $50 gift card to PAESE (thank you @girlswithnofrills for hosting the contest!) and was eager to redeem it.  Thus, it was perfect that we were in the area already and planned to have dinner here.

I had been to PAESE Ristorante many years ago when they were located on King Street West in downtown Toronto.  I remember having really fond Continue reading

This week’s steno adventures

Boardroom

Boardroom

This was a crazy week of steno adventures. 😀 :O

It started on Monday.  I was supposed to sit on the same matter for all five days this week (a feat that I still haven’t achieved yet — earlier this year I was scheduled to sit for five days but then due to a transcript expedite, one of the days was switched over to another reporter for my own sake).  The Monday began with walking into a room of four policeman who were stationed there to bolster security.  It was for a “infamous Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Unusual

Unusual activity

Unusual activities, Toronto. July 2017

Today I saw something unusual outside the window.  First of all, it was an unusual move on my part as I rarely look out the window (for an extended period of time anyway) to notice anything significant.  I was on the ninth floor of the building at Bay and Adelaide for a job and all of a sudden I noticed a man on the street pick up a potted plant that was in front of a restaurant and THROW it directly onto the street where there were lots of cars moving.  What the…  It immediately caught my attention and I zoned into what this particular guy was doing.  The rest of the passerbys on the street seemed baffled Continue reading
