Sho’s Engagement Party at Firkin on Yonge!

Located at 207 Yonge St in Toronto

It begins!  More and more of my friends are heading down the engagement and marriage stages of their lives.  I couldn’t be happier for them and can’t wait to share in the beauty of their next chapters of their lives. 🙂

My dear friend Steph, or Sho as we like to call her, organized her engagement party to be hosted at Firkin on Yonge, a lively pub and restaurant.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Symmetry

Carnival Splendor, Miami. February 2015

Last week, I was stuck on a cruise ship.  Oops, let me rephrase that.  I was enjoying my time fully on Carnival Splendor while most people were stuck in their jobs in the middle of February.  That sounds better, doesn’t it? 😛  I took many pictures around the cruise with and without people.  Here’s one without a face in it that is symmetrical.   Continue reading

Winterlicious 2015 Restaurant #1: Moroco Chocolat

The Melteaser dessert

Moroco Chocolat located at 99 Yorkville Ave. in Toronto

It’s pretty surprising that I’m only going to two Winterlicious restaurants this time around in 2015.  I’m learning not to go overboard with eating out and it just so happens that I was leaving to go to Miami and an all-inclusive cruise trip a week later anyway so I don’t want to indulge too much here in Toronto before I leave. 😛   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Scale

American Airlines Arena, Miami. February 2015

Be prepared for a nerdy post:  The scale of the people walking on the stage at the MAWC 2015 convention looks large and grand but they all got there with a little bit of hard work, time, perseverance, and dedication.   Continue reading

Kenny’s Gourmet

Located at 1480 Major Mackenzie Dr E, Unit 7 in Richmond Hill

After we picked up some cool products from Brampton, the three of us headed for lunch!  There are so many HK-style cafes all over Markham and Richmond Hill that it wasn’t a huge surprise that I hadn’t tried out this restaurant before.

It’s called Kenny’s Gourmet and is so similar to Kenny’s Noodle or Kenny’s Delight XD.   Continue reading

Lunching at Whole Foods!

Located at 3997 Hwy 7 in Markham

For this third time of detoxing, Jessica and I went to the Markham location of Whole Foods for lunch.  Even though this location of Whole Foods has opened up for a while now, this was my first time stepping into the fair-trade friendly and eco-friendly supermarket and eatery.   Continue reading

Taste Of Mediterranean (Richmond Hill)

Located at 16 Vogell Road in Richmond Hill

Taste Of Mediterranean is a Greek fast food eatery that you may have seen in your local food court in the shopping malls.  They actually have three stand alone rest shops in the GTA, of which Richmond Hill is one of them.  Sarah and I were going to have lunch to catch up and since the next-door Fresh Fusion turned out to be closed even though their business hours show it shouldn’t have been, we stepped into Taste Of Mediterranean for a quick dinner.

One man working behind the counter

Taste Of Mediterranean has a very simple store front.  It’s meant to be a fast food type of place where you order your food at the counter, watch it being made/assembled quickly in front of you, pay for it, and then take it out or choose a table to dine in.  When we arrived on a Tuesday night, the place was empty.  The man at the counter served us and we noticed that he was quite sauce-happy when making everything.

Greek, Middle Eastern, and Lebanese selections

I chose the Greek Platter which included beef gyro with Greek salad, rice, saucy potatoes, and a pita.  I haven’t had Greek food in a while and I actually miss it!  Everything was placed into a Styrofoam box and was quite a large meal!

Greek Platter. $9.99
-beef gyro with Greek salad, rice, saucy potatoes, pita

The Greek salad was very good with extra black olives and was very saucy!  Yum.  The beef gyro was in large chunks and tasted very soft and flavourful.  I actually really liked it!  I remember having gyro previously as thinly cut slices and not as soft as this one was.  The rice was also very good and fine.  The saucy potatoes were definitely saucy and well done.  The pita was also fresh and a great portion — it was as big as the Styrofoam box was!  I didn’t finish my portion and it was perfect that it was already in a box so that I could take it home.

Tiny falafels

Sarah ordered an shawarma and falafel.  We were both surprised with how small the falafel was — usually they’re big and round!

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food despite this being a simple-looking restaurant.  It was also very dead on a Tuesday evening; maybe it’s the winter cold that has driven most people to eat at home instead.

Taste Of Mediterranean is a franchise that has locations all over the world!  See if you spot them the next time you’re at a mall or around the GTA. 🙂

Mirage Noodle Restaurant

Located at 4186 Finch Ave E in Toronto

After an incredibly satisfying and exciting game at BreakOut Team Adventures, we headed over to the plaza at Midland and Finch for some sustenance to replenish our brain power and energy.  The sushi shop we wanted to go to wasn’t open on a Sunday (!), so we opted to try out Mirage Noodle Restaurant instead.   Continue reading

Perfect Chinese Restaurant

Located at 4386 Sheppard Ave E in Scarborough

After a mind-blowing coring and learning from some amazing and inspirational entrepreneurs, we went to Perfect Chinese Restaurant for a late-night dinner.  We took up pretty much half of the restaurant since there were so many of us there eating together.  Where the team goes, we go! 🙂 #family   Continue reading

V.I.P. Vietnamese Restaurant

Located at 3229 Hwy 7 East, #11-12 in Markham

Jessica and I had lunch at V.I.P. Vietnamese Restaurant on a weekday at First Markham Place.  Wouldn’t you believe it that even on a weekday, the parking lot of this mall is still packed — it’s crazy!  I guess because there are so many restaurants and eateries here that many work people will pop in for eats during lunch time.   Continue reading
