Desserts at Caffé Demetré [Defunct]

Located at 100 York Boulevard in Richmond Hill

I’ve been to Caffé Demetré for dessert at this location in the past.  It’s a really nice and modern restaurant that specializes in only desserts and drinks.  Talk about a sugar rush!  They have a huge menu full of waffles, ice cream, cakes, crepes, coffees and teas!  It’s a great place to go to hang out with friends for a late night chat over some sweet treats which is what Jen and I did on this Saturday night.   Continue reading

Sushi Dragon on Anime North night

Located at 634 Dixon Road in Etobicoke

After a full evening of walking around the Anime North convention and taking pictures of many amazing cosplays, we opted for dinner at Sushi Dragon that was just a 3-minute walk from the Toronto Convention Centre.  Since the anime/manga convention was right next door to this restaurant and many others, there were a lot of hungry cosplay fans and convention goers at this time.   Continue reading

My first time attending Anime North!

The Final Fantasy cosplay group photoshoot at Anime North 2014

I’ve never been a huge anime/manga fanatic.  In my childhood, I grew up with Sailor Moon as my first exposure to “anime”.  However, I didn’t see it like an obsession or an interest where I would be dressing up as one of the characters.  It was simply a fun TV show that I watched.   Continue reading

Eating Tacos at Seven Lives – Tacos y Mariscos

Located at 69 Kensington Avenue in Toronto

Seven Lives – Tacos y Mariscos is a taco joint in Kensington Market that is extremely popular.  It specializes in “So-Cal/Baja style seafood”.  I thought it was a sit-down restaurant, but to my surprise, when I got there, there are only 2 main tables and a standing table connected to the wall for guests.   Continue reading

Thai Food at Sukhothai

Located at 52 Wellington Street E in Toronto

After a little snack at The Island Cafe and some more chillaxing at the beach at Ward’s Island, Ipana had a fantastic suggestion of going to Sukhothai for dinner.  Apparently it is comparable to the popular Khao San Road Thai restaurant that is on Adelaide Street.  As a foodie, I just had to try it out and was very happy to know that it was open on a holiday Monday (Victoria Day).   Continue reading

The Island Cafe (Ward’s Island)

Located at 20 Withrow Street on the Toronto Islands

Here’s a small highlight of a restaurant that we visited when we spent our Victoria Day weekend at Centre Island (or Ward’s Island specifically).  I know, I know… Victoria Day has long passed since it was in the last Monday of May, but I’m still catching up on my backlog of blog posts. :]

Five of us enjoyed the lazy Monday holiday by chatting and relaxing on the beach with some wine and good company.  When we got a little hungry, we visited The Island Cafe for some munchies.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Room

Hong Kong Science Museum, Hong Kong.  December 2011

There’s a bit of a time crunch to do this week’s photo challenge, but I instantly thought of this picture for this week’s theme:

It was taken at the Hong Kong Science Museum and shows how we can be tricked into seeing optical illusions.   Continue reading

My First Cooking Class!

PC Black Label Cooking Class at Loblaws St. Clair West

Last Tuesday, I went to my very first cooking class!!  As much as I love food and dining out, I don’t cook enough and when I do, I actually really think that my creations are fairly yummy (biased much, I know!).  Haha.  I remember when I made food for these monthly potluck parties that my friends and I used to have and I would choose a recipe from the Internet and have a blast making it.

When the opportunity to join a President’s Choice Hands-On Black Label cooking class at the Loblaws Cooking School came up, I grabbed it by the reins and registered.   Continue reading
