Reducing Food Waste with Everflux Technologies (Start Up Competition)

 food in dumpster

So much food waste 😦

Not many people know this about me but I am a huge advocate of food saving and eliminating food waste as much as possible.  What this means is that when I go out to a restaurant, when there are leftovers, I will always pack it home to enjoy the next day because I don’t want the food to go to waste.  When I go out to eat with family, I will even take it further by bringing our own Tupperware or glass containers in case of food leftovers so I don’t even have to use their containers (especially those non-eco-friendly Styrofoam ones) to cut down on disposable waste.   Continue reading

Sweet Jesus ice cream cones

Sweet Jesus located at 106 John Street in Toronto

Toronto is in the midst of a crazy ice cream trend right now and one of those trendy ice cream dessert parlours is Sweet Jesus.  Sweet Jesus rose to fame on instagram last year with its high toppling soft serve ice cream decorated with cookie crumbs, cotton candy, brownie bits, and more.  After our lunch at Wilbur Mexicana just ten minutes down the street, Helen and I headed here to try to see if the line-up would be short enough for us to try this trendy dessert place on a summery Saturday.   Continue reading

Destination Thailand 2016 Media Preview

Destination Thailand 2016 Media Preview located at the Thai Trade Centre at 31 Gloucester St in Toronto

I had the pleasure to be invited to a tasty media preview of the upcoming Destination Thailand cultural food festival that will take place in Toronto on September 10, 2016 at the Yonge & Dundas Square in Toronto!  Thanks to Rey of EatnMingle events who organized and hosted the event, several members of the food blogger community and I were able to experience and taste the restaurants that are selected to represent the Thai food community at the Destination Thailand festival before anyone else.   Continue reading

After our bus ride from Brussels, Belgium back into Paris, France, we unpacked our stuff and then walked outside of the hotel to find some dinner.  After considering two other restaurants on the street, we settled on a Japanese restaurant called SushiRama.   Continue reading

Ijsberg (Brussels, Belgium)

Ijsberg waffle

Ijsberg located at Rue de la Montagne 68 1000 Bruxelles in Belgium

After a quick lunch at Le Calalou, just before boarding the tour bus to get on the road again, I spotted the nearest cafe which sold waffles to get one to try.  (There were actually so many waffle shops on the streets near Manneken Pis where the main tourist spots were but I didn’t grab one from there unfortunately.)  Thus, this little shop off of the main area had to do.  I just couldn’t leave Belgium without trying some famous Belgian waffles!   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Narrow

Treetop Eco-Adventure Park in Oshawa

Treetop Eco-Adventure Park in Oshawa, November 2015

Everything about treetop trekking is narrow.  You got your narrow but sturdy ropes that hold you up, narrow foot paths and foot holds, narrow passes, and you have to squeeze yourself into small spaces sometimes to get through the obstacles.  It’s not an easy feet but you emerge feeling more than just small or narrow; you emerge feeling victorious! 😛   Continue reading

Food Blogger Tasting at Scaddabush Scarborough

Scaddabush Italian Kitchen & Bar located at 580 Progress Ave in Scarborough

About two weeks ago, I received an e-mail from Becca of Service Inspired Restaurants alerting me about the opening of the fourth location of the Scaddabush Italian Kitchen & Bar and invited me to the restaurant in exchange for my thoughts of the restaurant in a blog post.  I was informed that there would be an event where a few food bloggers would be dining in and I agreed to attend.  Becca said she would leave my name with the restaurant.   Continue reading

Le Calalou (Brussels, Belgium)

Le Calalou

Le Calalou located at Petite Rue des Bouchers 33, 1000 Bruxelles in Brussels, Belgium

After we saw the infamous peeing boy statue, Mannekin Pis, we went for lunch.  Belgium is well known for their mussels and fries combo, so we walked into an alley that was full of seafood restaurants and picked Le Calalou to try.

The only server there standing in front of the restaurant was enthusiastic and lured us in with bribes of free drinks and free wifi.   Continue reading
