Weekly Photo Challenge: Close Up

Happy Harbour, Muskoka. July 2015

Recently, I took a really nice close up picture.  This fits in with this week’s theme (I feel like this theme is also similar to this one I participated in).  Sometimes, when doing these weekly photo challenges, I wish I had a mental digital tag for each photo so that when it comes time for these challenges, I can search up keywords immediately and find the best picture.   Continue reading

Summer EC Retreat 2015 in Happy Harbour, Muskoka

Happy Harbour, Muskako. July 2015

This past weekend — well, Sunday and Monday, a few select friends and MA family road-tripped up to Muskoka where we had a relaxing “extended weekend” (my words) at a private lakeside cottage.  I’m pretty sure it was my first time to Muskoka after hearing about friends and acquaintances heading up to this quiet nature-y sanctuary.   Continue reading

All Day Breakfast at Marathon Cafe

Located at 155 East Beaver Creek Road, Unit 26 in Richmond Hill

Before we left on our exciting Executive Council Extended Weekend trip, we all gathered at Marathon Cafe in Richmond Hill at 8 a.m. to have a hearty breakfast first.  We were the first to walk in on a Sunday morning in this Hong Kong style cafe.  Marathon Cafe is famously known for their award-winning Hong Kong style milk tea.   Continue reading

Las Vegas Eats 2015: Hash House A Go Go — Dessert Version

Located at 3535 Las Vegas Blvd S in Las Vegas

After we sampled a bit of the pizza at Secret Pizza, we headed to Hash House A Go Go where the other members of Team Warrior were and we had dessert there.  Hash House A Go Go is a famous breakfast and brunch place in Las Vegas that serves gigantic portions of food.  Vivian, Eric, and I came here last year for brunch and we couldn’t even finish two dishes between the three of us.   Continue reading

Hummus and White Melted Cheddar Sandwiches at Saving Gigi

Located at 859 Bloor Street West in Toronto

I received an e-mail from Saving Gigi last week to invite me to their restaurant to enjoy some of their featured items and to help them promote their restaurant.  Sure!  I was happy to do so.  I always write honest reviews, so even if a restaurant has invited me to eat, I really do give my truthful opinion about what I think.

After I responded to Saving Gigi about coming to the restaurant, I asked if there would be any ideal time or day for me to come in.   Continue reading

Portuguese Peri-Peri Chicken at Nando’s

Located at 939 Eglinton Avenue East in Toronto

I have been wanting to try Nando’s for the longest time and I finally got to this weekend.  Yay! 😀  I love juicy, tender, moist, well-seasoned chicken (may be fried or not), and I really respect restaurants that can do it right.   Continue reading

ZomatoMeetUp: Exclusive Tasting at Carmen’s Steakhouse

Located at 26 Alexander Street in Toronto

I was so happy and grateful to be able to attend my first ZomatoMeetUp!!  The last time that I was invited to one, I had to decline it because I was travelling in New Zealand.  I was especially bummed because they were going to Copacobana by the Sea and I really wanted to try out that all-you-can-eat seafood restaurant.   Continue reading

Petit Nuage at Market 707

Located at 707 Dundas Street West (Market 707) in Toronto

This was my first time to Market 707.  It is a cluster of shipping containers in downtown Toronto near Bathurst and Dundas that are used as small shops.  I didn’t know something like this existed in Toronto because I found it super neat and unique!   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Half and Half

Two halves of one avocado, Markham. March 2009

Mr. Avocado Seed.  This is what I called these after I had an extreme case of eating avocados during one winter in 2009.  Avocados are one of my favourite fruits and I actually got into a hobby of growing out the avocado seeds too at the time so that there were little plants in my home.   Continue reading

Lunch at Moxie’s Grill & Bar in Square One

Located at 100 City Centre Dr #2 in Mississauga (inside Square One Shopping Centre)

Wow, I was so impressed with the food that I had here at Moxie’s!  We all know that a few years ago, chain restaurants like Moxie’s didn’t serve the best tasting or coolest choices of food, or at least for me, their reputation wasn’t very high on the foodie list.  However, Moxie’s has upped their game in terms of the food quality in the last couple of years and I have to say I was so happy and satisfied with what I had here.   Continue reading
