February 23, 2018:  Day 2 in Yellowknife!

Today, I woke up around 9 a.m. which was surprisingly early considering I finally had a chance to sleep in.  The sun streamed in at 9 a.m.  Unlike what I had heard about and thought of Yellowknife, the sun does not only come out at the hours of 10 to 3 p.m.  Instead, the daylight hours (at least while during our visit) were from 8:56 a.m. (sunrise) to 5:43 p.m. (sunset) — a later sunrise than Ontario but a similar sunset time. Giant Transformers Robots at Primitive Designs

March 17, 2018:  Primitive Designs is a retail and gift shop filled with some of the most unique and exotic antiques, furnishings, and art pieces I’ve ever seen.   It’s located in Port Hope and is one of the top tourist attractions in this small town.

We arrived here around 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon on a Saturday to check it out.  They had a gigantic Transformers robot outside the shop.  It was so impressive that even my SO exclaimed a loud “Wow!” immediately upon us driving onto the lot.  We got out of the car and spent the next hour and a half or so browsing the very many collection of interesting items that they had for Continue reading →

Goat Shmurgle and Alpacas at Haute Goat

March 17, 2018:  Haute Goat is a tourist attraction in Newtonville, Ontario (just outside of Port Hope) where there is a 200-acre farm for alpacas, Nigerian Dwarf goats, and Icelandic horses.  The most special and visit-worthy thing about Haute Goat is their “goat shmurgle” where you get to walk with goats, feed them, and get right up and personal with them to hug them.  I actually didn’t know that Haute Goat offered such a fun activity for kids and adults until our visit.  Continue reading →
